from obviously weren't too good (either economically, socially, politically, etc.). If things were so great in these other places, why do so many seek to leave them. Why do people try to create a government, political institutions, life-style, etc. similar to what they led previously in other places when it was obvious those ways didn't seem to work for them in other places? Why do so many come to the US and try to change so much about it when the US developed into a superpower while so many have immigrated here from places that are anything but? Just my rant for today- any thoughts one way or the other?

I am an American. I have a solution for handling North Korea and Iran. Tell China to stop North Korea's nuclear program or your manufactured goods will not come into the US. Stop selling weapons to Iran and Syria, or you will never sell anything to the US again. Our current account deficit with China must be hundreds of billions of dollars. I can't imagine they sell that much to any of these 7th century countries. I guess if we outlawed chinese products they would retaliate by selling our bonds which would raise interest rates. When bonds got cheap enough, buyers would buy bonds sending rates down again. As the US economy goes, so goes the rest of the world. They will buy US bonds if they are cheap. We can do the same thing to Russia and anyone else that sells weapons to people that want to see the world destroyed.

Good or bad idea?

I was a victim of that stand, and till this day, people are still dying under their so called stand as Observers only. And yet people are still wondering why angry protesters are attacking the UN. if they cannot protect the people of that country thats in crisis, then whats the point of coming there, only to be witnesses? someone please explain this to me. For I really see the UN as a big lie to the society of tomorrow. I do not want to lose faith in such a major and important organization, but yet a lot need to be answered.

Is there a common philosophical thread tying opposition to gay marriage, abortion, and secular government to opposition to minimum wage raises, welfare, and inheritance tax, or is the alliance of Christian leaders and business leaders made merely out of political convenience?
