Of course not. Hate speech is such a laughable term. How could anything be more vague?

The First Amendment applies to all speech, and that includes hate speech.

Well it shouldn't be punished, everyone has the right to free speech. But it should be discouraged, not with the force of law, but children should be brought up by their parents or guardians not to hate and use hateful language and teachers should not allow it either. People can easily still express their opinions in more understanding, compassionate ways and still making the same points as the hateful words, without the hate. Furthermore, society should find hatred, discrimination, and hate speech to be unacceptable. The public should be outraged if a public official or celebrity uses hateful terms or does hate someone or a group of people, especially for a silly reason like how much pigment is in their skin. Also, you should not expect hate speech to get you very far in life, I wouldn't hire anyone who is hateful, and I wouldn't expect to be hired or respected if I used hate speech. But NO it should not be punished.

The constitution is under assault all the time from everybody who has a beef. You start in with punishing one kind of speech, you set it up to restrict every damn thing. The fact is, that if you want Free Speech, you have to put up with what you don't like. You just can't have your own rights without putting up with everybody else's rights, whether you like the way they use them or not.
