I know that there are so many political and social issues in the U.S. Sometimes we all want something one way or the other, and sometimes we feel like the government is taking our rights and freedoms away, even though we live in a highly stable democratic republic country.

But how many of you honestly look at many of the other nations in the world and say to yourselves, "better here, than there"?

If not, then why?

I saw 2 new recruits

At a food market... They were buying cookies and cases of Mountain Dew. They were children, and no offense meant to them at all,,but they were not very mature young men,,just their interaction with each other seemed more like the actions of thirteen or fourteen year old boys,,,with their very short haircuts I ventured a guess as to what service they were in. It was the Army. Now America,,I see that real children are heading to be soldiers in Iraq. CHILDREN, Every trainer, Every recruiter,,every drill sergeant knows of what I speak.I felt ashamed to be an American last night. These two children were certainly very low I Q's kids. We should be ashamed of some of the kids we are taking advantage of these days.Perhaps this week I will visit the recruiters and see exactly what the intelligence limits are for the new recruits. Seeing these very immature kids get through basic was alittle frightening to me. Trust me. This would have not made you proud.

Ok Republicans, I want to know why you still think it's ok to be in Iraq, why bush continues to lie about not knowing who leaked the CIA official on retaliation, not doing anything about the Katrina situation when it was evident he knew and didn't care, and giving the top 5% tax breaks?

My husband is in the process of being deported. He was ripped away from my 11 month old daughter and I have been left to support her on my own. He has always supported us before now. I agree that people should come here legally but maybe they would if they didn't have to pay money that they don't have, and didn't have to wait for years! I don't for one minute regret meeting and falling in love with my husband, an illegal immigrant, because if I hadn't, I wouldn't have this beautiful little girl. What makes me sick is that most people think it's okay to rip them away from thier families and drop them off across the border with no means of survival, and it doesn't matter who they leave behind, or who has to suffer! This country claims to always put children first...well, where are they when my daughter is crying for her daddy? I guess it's just all the nonsense people here on tv and radio that they seem to believe is true!

It seems like people who question anything that Israel has done are defaming their being. If one believes like I do that Israel wants us in a war in the Mideast. I'm labeled a skinhead or some other label. If I disagree with the way our foreign policy is handled should I be called a pinko? I think the ADL is kept busier than the ACLU.

"Is the United States Bankrupt?" by Laurence J. Kotlikoff

http://research.stlouisfed.org/publications/review/06/07/Kotlikoff.pdf#search='will%20the%20united%20states%20go%20bankrupt'

is a recent article published in the Federal Reserve Bank of St. Louis Review, July/August 2006 issue.

The author concludes that countries can go broke, and that the United States has been staving off bankruptcy with it's foreign trade policy, but that it is just a matter of time. He proposes that radical reform of U.S. fiscal institutions is essential to secure the nation's economic future.

I would like to find out what you believe is the best course for the United States. Consider how social, political and economic foreign policies tie into this. How, for example, do you weigh this issue with our continuing social, security, and world issues and the possible loss of soverignity (Security and Prosperity Partnership Of North America/ http://spp.gov )? What is the comprehensive solution?

Most of us don't have the time or ability to do our own research on important political matters, and we have to find people that we trust to present us with the case.

What traits, behaviors, endorsements, afiliations, etc. need to exist for you in order to trust someone to the point that if they contradicted a dearly held belief that you would be concerned enough to question that belief?

And how long does it take to trust someone you don't know personally? What has to happen in that time?
