Barry Goldwater was considered the father of the modern conservative movement. His work was considered vital to Ronald Reagan's election.

In later life, he went on to tick off conservatives by supporting equal rights for gays.

A quote:

Will true conservatives like this ever return?

if you are so truley against invaders taking over someone else's land, then doo the following:

get the heck out of texas, california, arizona, new mexico, and a bunch of the south because all that belonged to the mexicans before americans came and stole it

next, move out of america period since all that belonged to the indians before the british came and stole it

don't have double standards. if you are truely anti-illegal, then you should be anti-yourself if you live in america or the south of america

a lot of white people (no discrimination, just truth) stole too much land from someone who rightfully owned it already. so don't complain when it starts happening to you.

Just read the Maine statutes, where it says:

§254. Mutilation

No person shall publicly or openly mutilate, deface, defile, defy, trample upon, or by word or act cast contempt upon any such flag, standard, color, ensign or shield. [1973, c. 262, § 2 (amd).]

Any violation of this section shall be a Class E crime. [1977, c. 696, § 8 (rpr).]

Does that mean that Maine has a provision already about flag desecreation? And if so, can a person burn a flag in let's say Massachusetts, but not in Maine? I'm confused now .... :(

I, personally, am against Eminent Domain. I think it is an absolute abuse of power, and it is the liberals who are doing it. I don't see a lot of Republican City Councilmen trying to take people's houses away from them. It's always the liberals... Anyways, what do you think?

In Europe, the USA, (infact, outside the Middle East) Jews, Arabs, Muslims and Israelis get along just fine. (Or atleast, By far, Most of them do!)
They're friends, even best friends. They go out with each other, have parties together, work together, go to the movies together, do things together, laugh together, basically, enjoy each others company, etc etc!

As in, they're just like other people.
They don't think about the Middle East, or the political problems over there.

Sure some do, but by far, most don't.

So, the question is, why is it that the people in the Middle East, are so different than the ones outside it??? The governments in the Middle East don't help matters but fan the flames of hatred.
But why can't the people there be more like the people outside that area??

You can't have it both ways - either America is sovereign, or illegal immigration is a human rights issue.

I, for one, affirm America is sovereign, therefore immigration is not a human rights issue.

Why don't you fight for human rights where you came from? Why do you pro-illegal repeat what people in your government lied to you about only America has human rights for citizens?

Why don't all you anti-immigrants put yourself in an illegal persons situation? You don't know any better because you haven't lived what they have. The US is not a poor, corrupt, hypocrite riden government where you have no real say in politics. Visas are not easily obtained in Mexico. Here's an idea: I challege you, the anti- immigrant to become a citizen of Mexico, or just live there for one year, without any US resources and try to make a living. I dare you.

I just sent a "?" regarding why white people get angry...I am not racis at all! I was not talking about all white people, but there are some! Let the truth be told people pretend to like us at work & social gatherings.., but in their house its a different story! I am not saying all white people are like this, I'm in the South. You follow my husband in the store and watch him like a hawk because of his hair, etc..But you are not racis, if you don't want to be labeled as racis, than stop saying your not and show you are not in your actions. There is good and bad in every race and I am sick and tired of some white people saying, "I am not racis", If you hate us so much, why do you tan to look like us? Do you think that the Electoral College is a reason why some people do not vote, because they feel as if their vote won't mean anything?

Legislation is always being passed to limit the age of cigarette buyers, and limit places where people can smoke. On the other hand, the tobacco industry is a thriving business, unless your crop is distroyed by weather or insects, and then you just get a subsidy from the government. Maybe the real question here is what reason is there that cigarettes have not been made illegal?

The wrold is slowly dying...we are filling it faster than we are dying. Scientistrs say that we will run out of food to feed the world in 130 years or sooner. Why not do something now. Why is population control such a taboo thing. Are we just going to count on some epidemic? On the appocalypse? On the hand of god?
We need to impliment a sensible long term plan for population control.
It can be slow at first in the US....set an example..Women on welfare with 3 children will be helped with the fourth but she will be sterilized. Women in drug abuse programs that have been caught more than 3 times and is having childern=Nutered,,,,

Maybe its crazy but we have t do something. ...give me some ideas

A study of law earlier especially out west!
When Outlaws would come to town- the women folk would hide -yes hide. When Outlaws walked around decent men had to step aside. Because the point of a gun was the only law many understood. When it came to shooting straight and fast-many were very good.
Out of the East came a man with a law book in his hand. The kind of a man the west would need who could tame a trouble land.
It is an old song but very true. Law swept across the west because lawlessness was so prevalent. And the laws were supported by the people for protection.

Do you see why laws were important? Do we need laws-would you rather just go back-wards and all pack guns? Or would we all be nice is that what you think? Or should we just follow some as it pleases you?
To Illegals this might hurt you-I understand but you do see that laws have a purpose don't you? I have to support them. Do what you must.

Talking with the one's I know. They have said that "Mexicans don't come here to become Americans they come here for a better life". In my opinion you'd have to be blind not to see that this is an invasion.
Anyone in Southern States who deal with this problem daily please give me your thoughts.
Also if any are in foreign countries any thoughts as to immigration problems you face.
