When you fight and die in Iraq you are not fighting for my freedom here in the USA. My freedom or lack of freedom has nothing to do with Iraq. You silly troops are dying for a worthless cause. You are dying for nothing. Remember, Iraq did not do 9-11. God!! Are you troops stupid for fighting in Iraq.

Seriously. There is apparently a very large percentage of the population that thinks this should be a Christian nation. They want prayer in the schools, Christian displays in government buildings, and Christian morals enacted as laws. They oppose same-sex marriage and gay adoption because their religion says homosexuality is bad. They oppose freedom of choice because they don't like the choices. Not to mention that we have a currently entrenched government that doesn't value the rest of the Constitution, objects to courts that try to protect Constitutional rights, and thinks the Commander-in-Sheik should be above the law. So, let's say they're right. How many people out there think this country has become unsalvageable and think it's time to follow the example of our Founding Fathers and find someplace free from religious and political persecution? Show of hands, how many are up for going elsewhere and founding a new country, and trying to get it right this time? Seriously.

Having a law that covers every single aspect of life is what we are slowly moving toward. Each and every day there are new laws passed and with each new law that is passed, a little bit of our freedom passes also. Try to think of anything that you may do during the day that doesn't have some law associated with it even if it is indirectly.

The Zapatistas planned to hold a national Other Campaign assembly in Mexico City on June 24 and 25, and then return to the jungle in Chiapas to spend the days surrounding the presidential elections at home, away from the polls and the television cameras.

No more.

In response to the brutal repression in Atenco, the government's continued denial of the extent and nature of the violence, and the continued incarceration of 31 people detained arbitrarily in Texcoco and Atenco on May 3 and 4, the EZLN and the Other Campaign, are betting everything on taking to the streets in protest on election day.

The risk is high, they need international support.

It is truely sad when people here know nothing about the very important things going on elsewhere. I am sure many will answer this question with hate, ignornat of what they are talking about. BUT the fact remains that this stand in Mexico City that is taking place right now is very important. Depending on the election results, the course of history will change. If the military is called in to crush the Zapatistas there will be a tragic loss. Read the writings of Marcos, please. The message of the Zapatistas is perhaps the most important idea to grasp in regard to globalization, NAFTA, indigenous rights and the rights of all people INCLUDING US citizens who are (in different ways) under the gun also (whether you feel it yet or not, you are).

follow this issue for a real-time history lesson. My prayers are with the Zapatistas this next week and always.

personally background. Born in Canada. Texas wife. both myself and wife served in U.S Army. I in the infantry and her in intelligence. Two overseas tours. Now i'm Back in Canada to join the airforce as a pilot. I've been back in my home for awhile and don't like what I hear from some people. It seems to me that a lot of Canadians want to adopt the policy lay low and you won't get hurt. I for one come from a family history of warriors my entire family down though the generations were fighters they didn't hide when trouble came they met it will bravery and there lives. I know that Canada isn't the only place or people that feel this way. Even many in America are defeatist. But why? They don't want ot fight but they don't want to die either. So what do we do? I don't think that war is a good thing but sometimes its all you have left. I don't think our current enemy wants to hammer out a treaty. Thats just a gut feeling but I think many will agree.

Four men in full dress uniform were sitting at the Big Boy Restaurant crying their eyes out. One was saying " Boo Whoo!! The big Bad Insurgents are fighting back and hurting us"...The second Marine was saying ( Crying ) Boo Whoo...Sniff Sniff...."We are getting a butt beating in Iraq and we were told the war was over on 1st May 03"...Boo whoo!! The third and forth Marines were to distraught to talk. They were shell shocked due to the fact a rag tag group of insurgents wearing blue jeans and carrying basic weapons were able to hurt/kill the Marines. When the Iraqi waitress arrived to take the Marines order she said " For you Marines we have only one thing to give you. The Marines ask "What is it". She replied "Crow Food.

During the American Revolution it was...

Conservatives: "We should remain loyal to the King of England!"

Liberals: "No, we need to create a new land of liberty and justice for all!!!"

Or the American Civil War:

Conservatives: "Slavery is the American way!"

Liberals: "No, our land is a land of liberty and justice for all!!!"

Or women's suffrage (the right to vote):

Conservatives: "The Bible says women are the property of men!"

Liberals: "Hello, all you conservatives need to get with the program! Our laws are derived from the will of the People, not God. Our land is a land of liberty and justice for all!!!"

You get the idea. Why is it that they are forever fighting against the improvement of our society and achievement of the great American ideal of liberty and justice for all?
