If that was something that the prime minister really wanted to see while here, then why not? No one works 24/7 btw, to those who wondered why they went when he needs to be running the country or that he should have better things to do. Part of a president's function is to be a host to foreign dignitaries at times (it builds a good relationship between countries). Have you never taken a visitor anywhere in your city to show them the sites or do any touristy things? Well, the country is like the city to the president, he is allowed to take someone on a tour of some landmark, and that is a landmark. Elvis is big in Japan even though he is dead (just like he is in the USA for some people). I agree that the country needs help and the president needs to pay attention to the tasks at hand instead of throwing up smoke screens, but taking a prime minister on a tour fits into things that are acceptable, and I for one think it is cool that they had a good time.

Neat?? No!!

A trip to Graceland was part of the price Koizumi named for allowing America to dump it's diseased beef on us again ... that's not so 'neat' for the unfortunate people here in Japan! And don't think it'll be easy to avoid buying it either - shops here are just as corrupt as shops elsewhere, and they've been known to deliberately 'mislabel' beef to either make it more expensive, or convince people that it's not American!!

I did. That's the kind of cool, normal guy the President is.

Too bad there aren't cell phones and other things that keeps him in touch with the White House in case something comes up. (See how the liberals have got a problem with EVERYTHING he does.)

Why didn't he just take him mudding in a four wheeler? Introduce him to some real redneck culture.

Nope...it was a waste of time...I'd rather him stay home and try to figure out a way to bring our troops home!
