"Kept in jobs"? "Forced to live"? Hey pal, this is a free country. Immigration criminals can quit their jobs whenever they want. They aren't being "forced" or "kept". They're breaking into our country, violating our laws, and you're making it sound like we're kidnapping them from Mexico at gunpoint!

some have said they have come here for a better life, I don't recall them being sold into slavery like my ancestors. They had FREE WILL. unfortunately, blaming it on the person is just a bunch of crap, cause you would do it if you could. The government has the complete responsibility to secure the borders, airways, ports, and tunnels. There is not enough man power to put corporations in check for hiring illegals, that's a bunch of lunch meat and they know it, I feel they are treated well, the illegals that surround me in los angeles are not living in squalor's.

Being kept in jobs??? Being forced to live in squalor?? Hey, we're talking about ILLEGAL IMMIGRANTS, not all Mexicans or Mexican Americans ... we don't WANT ILLEGAL IMMIGRANTS here .. we didn't ASK them to come ... they broke the law .. what do they want? Immediate citizenship, a good job and all the welfare they can handle?? Hey, get realistic .. it's nothing to do with race or creed or anything like that ... why is that so difficult to understand??

How are we treating them? Mexican Americans have just as many rights as any one else in this country. We aren't even making them speak English, we are hiring special teachers that speak Spanish just to accommodate them. So what is the justification to pay reparations? I think they owe all Americans a debt of gratitude that we are so accommodating. I didn't see the Italian, German, Polish, Russian, Chinese, Japanese, Swedish, (the list is very very long) etc immigrants get this special treatment, so why should they? Silly question, but thanks for the 2 points.

Frankly I don't think reparations are the answer, because we would have to pay the Irish, the Catholics, Muslims, Blacks, Chinese, Latvians, Samoans, Loatians, anyone who can claim unfair treatment. Everyone would have to pay something to someone.
Most of our immigrants came here to start a new and better life (yes, I am aware some were captured, tortured, and forced into slavery), and found that people are pretty much unfair bast ards anywhere you are.

How are they treated now?! Then why do they come here at all. My grandmom came here at 17 yrs old. She leaned English and got a job, bought a house etc... She didn't demand that everything be in Polish, not English. They can go through proper channels and work legally even if it takes a while. That's the problem, no one wants to wait for anything.

No. It was their choice to break the law by coming over here. Unlike sovereign nations who were already here and truly did suffer from disease and war, the illegal immigrants don't deserve a thing and are not suffering by being in America illegally. I think our government should spend for education on birth control methods for illegal immigrants, that way no one can continue to say that they just want to provide for their poor starving children;and the real issue of them breaking our laws can fully be addressed.

Democrats will try this, only to get votes. They need a permanent class of victims to keep their party afloat. And anything that is bad for America is good for the Democrats, just remember that.
It would make sense to have THEM pay US reparations in the future for all of the free services they received on our dime.

If they are illegally here, they are not Mexican Americans, and those are the ones getting illegally low wages.
If they are illegally here, they are breaking our laws and taking our subsidized services like education, so THEY are the ones who owe reparations.
So, no.

How are we treating them now? We have changed a lot of things to make life easier for them in the United States. Schools are bilingual, almost everything you find is written in English and Spanish. I guess you need to be more specific on how we are treating them.
