During the Industrial Revolution of the late 19th century and until the mid-50s (I'm guessing) the majority of US Labor was manual. People on assembly lines cranking out widgets. With the advent of technology, we have slowly moved from a production society to a service society. Most of the assembly lines have been automated, a Caterpillar tractor has replaced 25 ditchdiggers, etc.

There are approximate 12 million undocumented workers filling the jobs that most Americans supposedly won't work. Basically, the remnants of the physical labor industries that haven't been automated yet.

In twenty years, if things do not changed, we will swell to 50 million undocumented. If automation continues and strawberries are picked by machine, and lawn are mowed by machine, how will the American economy be able to support 50 million unemployed?

I'm not referring to the new bills to prevent counterfitting, but a complete change that would make all current bills obsolete, with a time limit to exchange all our money for new currency.
Would this help ferret out illegal monies, ie drug stashes, etc? We already are monitored for any bank deposit above $10,000.

What do you think? And Why?

Church members routinely demonstrate outside military funerals, saying American soldiers are dying as a sign of God's anger against the country's tolerance of homosexuality.

I said I would never. But do you think I should? I'm sitting here wondering if my Indian Grandfather was a traitor for marrying a Scottish woman or was my Scottish Grandmother a traitor for marrying an Indian man. So called "Native Americans" holler about this being their land, but more than half of their ancestors married those so called "Whites" who came here and took it from them. The "Whites" said it was their land and called the Indians "Savages" and such, but married them anyway. And their half breed offspring have been fighting about who's right and who's wrong ever since. It seems to me that taking a side would be denying at least half my heritage. What kind of human would that make me? Why can't I just be an American with colorful blood like all the rest, who just happens to believe the Law of this land should be upheld? We don't have to agree with our Law but we do have do uphold it. Don't we? Doesn't the Law allow us the priveledge of not having to choose sides?

It is just the government having more control of your life and you wait in line for up to a year to have a tooth pulled.

If you think socialized healthcare is so wondeful, just ask a Canadian their thoughts.

And there opinion with the seperation of Church and State? They say that according to the constition that they are suppose to be "seperate". However if you go back in history, clearly the founding fathers promoted Christianty. Thomas Jefferson himself (the one who wrote the "seperation of Church & State"), made it maditory to promote Chirstianty to the Indians one year later, and use Bibles as national school books? Why do you think the ACLU is trying to change the meaning of our Constitution? And do you think people even do research to understand what Jefferson meant before holding an opinion?

This country has been faced with so many problems this past 51/2 years that is seems a large number of people focus on hot button issues like abortion and same-sex marriage rather than things that affect our lives on a daily bases. Gas prices are skyrocketing while oil companies are reaping record profits, the medicare program is so confusing that seniors have no idea what they are paying for and if it is the right product for them, power plants, airports, mass transportation and water supplies are not protected from terrorism almost 5 years after 9/11, millions of Americans have no healthcare, Wars in Iraq and Afghanistan will cost more than $500 billion by 2007, candidates for political office beholden to corporations due to large campaign contributions, college tuition increase as much as 11% a yr for the last 5 years, corporations raiding empoyee pension plans, abortion & same sex marriage, & corporate welfare just to name a few. Rate issues for importance and why.

The recent arrests and murder by Israel was not about rescuing a soldier but about crippling Hamas, which won January parliamentary elections.

Either your for democracy or your against it, Mr. Bush. What message does this send to Iraqis? hmmm?

Why is this issue dividing people? Yes, there is a consensus that the world is getting warmer. Yes, a majority of scientists attribute this to human-made causes, while a vocal minority of scientists disagree. There is a healthy debate among them, and at this point, it is unclear which camp is correct.

But let us look at this logically - which false-positive has the greatest potential of damage?

Even if those against man-made global warming ARE correct, by doing something now we can (a) stimulate the economy with developing alternative fuels sources and (b) reduce health problems associated with pollution.

But if those who don't believe in man-made global warming are INCORRECT....the downside is MUCH MUCH greater.

So what is the big deal? The answer seems pretty obvious....it shouldnt be a partisan issue.

"The House overwhelmingly approved a spending bill containing an amendment by U.S. Rep. John Culberson, R-Houston, intended to force state and local authorities, to get more involved with immigration enforcement-or risk losing MILLIONS in federal grants!" Culberson had listed Houston among other cities, that have "adopted sanctuary policies which prevent law enforcement officers from inquiring about legal status". Culberson said the ammendment passed today, and others he has attached to unrelated spending bills, "are neccessary to combat the governments widespread and systematic refusal to protect our border and enforce the immigration laws". It will become law if Bush signs it. Do we DARE hope????
