First of all, that's really rich that people actually think the country is tolerant of homosexuality. Gays and Lesbians are some of the most harassed and discriminated-against members of our society. It's even more appauling that someone could be so arrogant as to presume to know if God is angry about something, like he's asked them to relay a message for him. But the topper has to be when they try to make a correlation between dead soldiers and punishment for tolerance of homosexuality. Is it me or is this quite a reach?? If the religious right (which is really neither) wants to lay blame, why don't they take their demonstrations where they belong - to the White House!

Whoever u are XXX, YOU ARE WRONG!!!!! they are still "demonstrating" everywhere! They hold signs at funerals that say GOD HATES AMERICA, FU** THE ***** ARMY etc. I truly don't understand how they can call themselves Christians. THANK GOD, we have the Patriot Guard Riders. Families of Fallen Heros can contact the PGR when they find out their loved one is killed. Then, the PGR will work with the family, escort the funeral procession from the funeral home to the burial site and stand guard between the protesters and the funeral. When the protesters start yelling and singing God hates America, the PGR will sing God Bless America.....most of the time, they stand in a line and are silent and RESPECTFUL...something those "poeple" have no idea about. This is really a great organization. And, u don't have to have a bike to be a member. Check out their site...patriotguard.org. Read the letters from the familys that they've helped! BELIEVE ME, it will move u to tears!

I am a wife of a soldier and if there was a protest at my husbands funeral, I would be going to jail, because I would be the crap out of somebody... and that is the honest God truth. How dare they show their distain on a day where these families have to bury their soldiers. There is a time and a place and that certainly would not be it! I sent my husband over there and he made it back, but I be dog gone if protesters would be so inconsiderate and non supportive of that loss... it literally makes me sick to my stomach. I don't care how the heck you feel about the war, Bush or the cotton pickin goverment, that soldier laid it down and that time deserves honor and respect!!!
I and my husband are devoute Christians and we know that the Word says that there will be times of war and peace, however I don't know if I would be able to contain myself. I don't like that and I think they are foolish Christians. They need to protest in Washington and not at the funeral.

Heather - I as a Christian and a retired Gulf War Veteran (1st attempt) started to answer your question. I read all the others that beat me to the punch and with the exception of a couple of jerks (God forgive me - I was thinking it so why not type it), I was moved to the point of watery eyes over the comments by these true Americans. No we don't have to agree with war, government or "The MAN", but we as Americans depend on those freedoms still being there tomorrow for those that gave their lives yesterday and today. If we allow these protesters to degrade not the flag, not the constitution, and not the president, But the individual right to privacy in ones own family to bury their fallen hero. We should all be standing in every town cemetery till it is over flowing for even the lowest ranking fallen soldier, grieving with these families and showing our support for them. If the force of numbers doesn't move these protester then the number of witnesses that didn't see a thing might impress a judge. God Bless You Heather and God Bless all you true Americans it makes me know my service was not in vain and my fallen brothers and sisters will always rest in peace.

I think that protesting at a funeral period is the most disrespectful and insensitive thing that anyone could do. But protesting a military funeral is the worst thing in the world, because that service member helped to give the right to protest funerals, as well as anything else. I would roll over in my grave if my funeral was protested, because I know my family would be suffering enough.

These so-called demonstraters should be kept back from military funerals by local laws or by counter demonstrators. This is a disgrace and I can't believe that any God worth worshipping would condone the death of GI's because there are gays in the military.

That's just wrong. The time of grief for a family is not a time for protests. The funeral of a loved one is no place for protests. It's a huge invasion of privacy. We need to honor our veterans, both living and dead, not rejoice over their death. Those church members must not have anything better to do than protest. They should probably spend more time praying and reading their bibles. the idiots

First off, it's one church based in Arkansas and 80% of the congregation is family. Second, they aren't real Christians. Christians do not judge and they do not celebrate anyone's death. They are using God's name the same way the terrorist are using the name of Allah. People who truly believe in and follow the order of Islam, don't blow up building. True Christians don't judge people and do not make a mockery of their funerals! These so called Christians need to read their Bibles. I'll be praying for them. Even more importantly, I will continue to pray for my husband and the men and women serving beside him.

That one particular church your talking about is basically full of nut jobs. Anyone with a shred of common sense would never disrespect a mourning family at a funeral. They might be against homosexuality, but they probably inter-marry with family members. How else can their odd behavior be explained?
