"The House overwhelmingly approved a spending bill containing an amendment by U.S. Rep. John Culberson, R-Houston, intended to force state and local authorities, to get more involved with immigration enforcement-or risk losing MILLIONS in federal grants!" Culberson had listed Houston among other cities, that have "adopted sanctuary policies which prevent law enforcement officers from inquiring about legal status". Culberson said the ammendment passed today, and others he has attached to unrelated spending bills, "are neccessary to combat the governments widespread and systematic refusal to protect our border and enforce the immigration laws". It will become law if Bush signs it. Do we DARE hope????

It is happening more and more-and people are putting the pressure on Government and Sates.
It is going to get tougher for Illegals as time goes by.

We are going to hear a lot of sour grapes.

Hot DAMN! It'd be nice to see law enforcement have the tools and the justificiation etc. to actually start enforcing the border. Time to stop caving to the big business types. I had another question on this thing, and one person put up a response with this big signed open letter asking that the border NOT be enforced, basically, I wonder what kind of 'open letter' could be sent with a majority of americans voting AGAINST free-for-all immigration? Other countries do things to restrict immigration, why's america supposed to play doormat? Screw that. Other countries that want to achieve what america's achieved can do it with their own national reforms instead of everyone just fleeing the scene to hop the fence into America. A lot of people have been writing Congress lately, to the point where the House now sees fit to take the issue to The People. Wonders will never cease...

This is the same House of Representatives that has been in power since 1994. If they cared about immigration, why haven't they said a word about it in 12 years.

If it was about security, why did it take four years after 9/11 to even bring the topic up for debate.

If you believe these people care about solving the problem, you are deluded.

How Excellent!
Anything we can do to defeat the infidel illegals!
I think our friend Mexican Sweetie is deluding herself about who is going to stay and who is going to go.
If anyone is here illegally, they are as good as gone. It will take a while but they will have to live looking over thier shoulders, without having hope of really having much of a future, should they slip up and get caught. And they will slip up and be caught. It's just a matter of time. Most will leave as the jobs disappear and the pressure increases. The rest will be caught and deported or be sent to prisons.
Adios,amigos!

Bush has never vetoed anything in his career as President. The House isn't stupid - they are really starting to impress me. The enforcment only bill they have needs one change - that people can de deported anywhere within the US - right now it says within a certain number of miles. The law right now reads anywhere.
