This country has been faced with so many problems this past 51/2 years that is seems a large number of people focus on hot button issues like abortion and same-sex marriage rather than things that affect our lives on a daily bases. Gas prices are skyrocketing while oil companies are reaping record profits, the medicare program is so confusing that seniors have no idea what they are paying for and if it is the right product for them, power plants, airports, mass transportation and water supplies are not protected from terrorism almost 5 years after 9/11, millions of Americans have no healthcare, Wars in Iraq and Afghanistan will cost more than $500 billion by 2007, candidates for political office beholden to corporations due to large campaign contributions, college tuition increase as much as 11% a yr for the last 5 years, corporations raiding empoyee pension plans, abortion & same sex marriage, & corporate welfare just to name a few. Rate issues for importance and why.

Country Preacher, To say the war in Iraq is the most important to you could have taken a few sentences instead of a full Bible lesson. I get that on Wednesday nights. Too many people write these lengthy diatribes that no one wants to read.

You have it summed up to a "t". It's ridiculous to me that we are not as focused on healthcare for those who have worked so hard and so long to help build this nation. Basic healthcare for our children should also be paramount to "the powers that be" in D.C., but it's not. The common working man/woman can hardly afford to feed, clothe themselves/ their children, pay rent/mortgage, pay health insurance (if available to them), and fill their tank up with gas (if they can afford the necessary "luxury" of a car). It is getting to the point where some people find it hard to afford getting to work. Homelessness has not diminished. The war on drugs is a farce. Trying to keep "illegal" immigrants out of the country is so hypocritical to me- the Statue of Liberty was a welcoming vision for immigrants who once came here from other parts across the ocean, but we cannot welcome people who want a better life just across the border? I won't go into the obvious difference between those European immigrants and our Mexican and Haitian neighbors who would also like a chance at a better life filled with "opportunity". America is now just a huge corporation that is all about money and not the people who keep it functioning- the common man/woman who WORK for a SEMI-living.

This does not answer your question but it sure gives you something to think about
VERY INTERESTING-
1.The Garden of Eden was in Iraq.
2. Mesopotamia, which is now Iraq, was the cradle of civilization!
3. Noah built the ark in Iraq.
4. The Tower of Babel was in Iraq
5. Abraham was from Ur, which is in Southern Iraq!
6. Isaac's wife Rebekah is from Nahor, which is in Iraq!
7. Jacob met Rachel in Iraq.
8. Jonah preached in Nineveh - which is in Iraq.
9. Assyria, which is in Iraq, conquered the ten tribes of Israel.
10. Amos cried out in Iraq!
11. Babylon, which is in Iraq, destroyed Jerusalem.
12. Daniel was! In the lion's den in Iraq!
13. The three Hebrew children were in the fire in Iraq (Jesus had been in Iraq also as the fourth person in the Fiery furnace!)
14. Belshazzar, the King of Babylon saw the "writing on the wall" in Iraq.
15. Nebuchadnezzar, King of Babylon, carried the Jews captive into Iraq.
16. Ez ekiel preached in Iraq.
17. The wise men were from Iraq
18. Peter preached in Iraq.
19. The "Empire of Man" described in Revelation is called Babylon, which was a city in Iraq!
And you have probably se en thi s one. Israel is the nation most often mentioned in the Bible. But do you know which nation is second? It is Iraq! However, that is not the name that is used in the Bible The names used in the Bible are Babylon, Land of Shinar, and Mesopotamia . The word Mesopotamia means between the two rivers, more exactly between the Tigris and Euphrates Rivers. The name Iraq, means country with deep roots.
Indeed Iraq is a country with deep roots and is a very significant country in the Bible.
No other nation, except Israel, has more history and prophecy associated it than Iraq.
And also, This is something to think about!
Since America is typically represented by an eagle. Saddam should have read up on his Muslim passages...
The following verse is from the Koran,
(the Islamic Bible)
Koran (9:11 ) - For it is written that a son of Arabia would awaken a fearsome Eagle. The wrath of the Eagle would be felt throughout the lands of Allah and lo, while some of the people trembled in despair still more rejoiced; for the wrath of the Eagle cleansed the lands of Allah;
And there was peace.
(Note the verse number!) Hmmmmmmm?!

The most serious issue is immigration. People argue that illegal immigrants take away American's jobs, but illegal immigrants cant get on the books jobs because they are not allowed to apply for a social security # and an employment authorization card without being sponsored by a citizen or came in this country with a million dollar to invest. The world of an immigrant today is an underground lifestyle all over this country right in front of your eyes. Is this era's type of slavery for men, women and children. This country knows it, that's why they make it so hard for them to become citizens. They have strict laws that you cant even imagin.
This cause prostitution among young immigrant girls as young as 12, 13 and up, single immigrant mothers, or just a young girl on her own. The men work like animals, more hours than humanity can take. All for less than minimum wage. The dollar is worth more in their native country so they dont care they have a family in their country that is suffering from hunger because of the lack of money they have. These are really smart people that escape from these 3rd world countries because of diseases, no vaccines, no doctors, no medicines, homes made of sticks that get blown away in a heavy rain, lack of food, clean water and electricity. I you were living in that world, woundlnt you want to run away your self specially knowing there's a better world out there? But anyway, my point is illegal immigrants in the US are not taking are jobs, they are doing the worst jobs. Jobs that a citizen would never consider. Some immigrants are hired by former immigrants that became citizens and have bussiness, but they are still working off the books, without benefits or healthcare and below minimum wage. illegal immigrants in the women world is 60% prostitution, the other 30% are drinking & dancing for $2 and the other 10% are house wives or working all day in a cheap clothing store for $3 an hour. They have no other choice. I believe that is a huge problem.

Health-care for seniors and everyone, education( and not no child left behind), inflation( and it is getting higher), price of gas & oil which is affecting every thing we buy, corporate welfare(what a scam on the consumer). Iraq because our sons and daughters are dying over there. We are all sons and daughters of immigrants, but they should learn English as my grandparents did. No importance what so ever, because they are private issues not public ones, abortion and same sex marriges. Abortion because a womens body is hers and it is between her, her concience and her God. Same sex marriage, because what hoppens in the privacy of ones home is nobodys business and I can't for the life of me see how it could possibly affect a marriage between a man &woman.
but then I am one voice and the religious right is so loud that the voices of reason cannot be heard.

Abortion does affect people's lives on a daily basis. It takes the lives of approximately 4,000 innocent people every day, and leaves approximately 8,000 parents to deal with the guilt of murder. I'd say this is pretty significant. More people are killed EVERY DAY through abortion than were killed on 9-11. If you doubt that abortion is murder and worthy of your attention, see:
A four-minute, must-see video on abortion:
http://www.abort73.com/HTML/I-A-4-video.html
Photos of abortions:
http://www.cbrinfo.org/Resources/pictures.html
I am, of course, also against the killing of innocent civilians in Iraq, and so are other conservatives:
http://www.rightremedy.org/articles/27
http://covenantnews.com/baldwin040210.htm
http://www.newswithviews.com/Brownlow/david29.htm
Murder is always the most important issue; therefore, I would say that abortion and the war in Iraq are the most crucial problems to deal with right now.

This is purely opinion, but Healthcare.
Here's why
Iraq War: Congress can't make up their mind, it is an important issue, but endlessly debating if we should have gone in the first place is a waste of time for Congress when they could be debating things that matter is lame.
Immigration: It is a problem, but there are bigger
Abortion: terrible practice, and morally reprehensible, but not a front page news item anymore
Same Sex Marraige: why debate it...why shouldn't they get married? (HOLEE CRAP A CONSERVATIVE BELIEVES IN SAME SEX MARRAIGE!!!!!!!)
so by process of elimination, i am left with healthcare.

Until Iraq is done nothing else is ranked in my mind. By the time it is resolved we may not be able to afford to do any of the other things that we should have used our 'time, talent (military) and treasure' (taxes) to pursue.

For me the biggest issue is abortion. I think the dehumanizing starts there. Our country doesn't think twice about murdering an innocent child then of course killing adults who "deserve" it isn't a far stretch is it.
