Not only have they gone through the public school systems, they have also earned college degrees and passed exams given by the military to be an officer. Have you ever considered the idea that not everyone is a good public speaker? What an @$$

Some might say that is the problem. Public schools here are not always consistent in how they turn out students. But plenty of people in the armed forces are very intelligent, going to college and getting advanced degrees, and the military colleges are some of the most rigorous in the nation. It is most likely that people simply get nervous during interviews, it is very stressful to be interviewed. Also keep in mind there is also newsroom editing which can make quite a difference in any story.

There are stupid people all over the world. Just because you saw someone on TV that you would consider stupid makes you generalize all the officers in American shows me how stupid you are. Or you just want to get a rise out of people. Either way your intelligence is at question.

All Ruperts are stupid.

In their defence though:

Try talking to nosey journalists while trying to be selective about the questions you answer and information you can reveal. The Press have no place in combat. It's not a spectator sport.

We have the public school system here and look at the morons it produces. I wouldn't put one of Sandhurst's finest up as a shining example of intelligence either. Stop provoking the Yanks for the fun of it. Yes, I know it's funny. They don't understand what taking the P!SS means.

Have you ever experienced a live interview yourself? From my own experience I can tell you it is not pleasant ! A few years ago, I was the "leader" of a group and had newspaper interviews (not too bad, but often misqouted, taped TV interviews (at least they could edit out my "mistakes"), and one live television studio interview. Before we began, the interviewer assured me it would be easy. She would ask the questions and I would answer them. WRONG. She introduced me and then said take it away. To say my brain turned to mush would be an understatement. After my humiliating TV disaster, I give a lot of credit to ANYONE who gives interviews. It is not easy, and even professionals aren't always "perfect".

"Public school" isn't that the group where they teach that 'Morris dancing'?
I heard on the grapevine that Montgomery (one of your officers I believe)? was a really great morris dancer, he got those bell things on his knees at the age of 10.
You are correct of course I dont recall ever seeing an American officer with those bell things on his knees ! So you are right they are sadly lacking without the "Public school " bit!
Have a nice day y'all !!

Oh, that? Well, see, when we ran the slovenly, pompous British out of this good land some 200 odd years ago, we made them take that silly, toothy accent. Now we talk like Texans. And, uh, say 'uh' a lot.

That is assuming you're British, Bear.

If not, then just go f*** yourself.

you are right. the gi's from the grass roots have more common sense than their officers. The reason the officers sound stupid is because they are.
