My ferret (3 years old) was fine all a.m., just walked over to the corner and vomitted 4 times, had a drink, checked out her food bowl, curled up and went to sleep. Should I be concerned. I have already googled it, and know the "potential causes", but she is not in any type of distress, and it seems to be an isolated event. Any ideas or suggestions?

i am getting a hamster tomorrow. i currently have seven pets: 1 dog, 2 cats, a chinchilla, 2 guinea pigs, and a bearded dragon. my dog is a chihuahua and he is 3 years old. he and my one cat are best friends and he also looooooooooves my guinea pigs and bearded dragon. he plays with my cuddles with them, and protects them. he hates my chinchilla tho, and i think it is because i never let him get close to it or play with it when i first got it. because when i got my guinea pigs and lizard, my dog loved them from day one.
how should i go about introducing my dog to the hamster so that he will like him and know he has to be gentle?
i have a humongo hamster cage (it's actually two cages linked together by tubes) on my floor and i have been letting him sniff all around and inside the cage while telling him the name of my hamster.
what else can i do now, before i get my hamster, and also when i get my hamster, to help them get along?

what do you think is the best rodent pet, and why? also do you have any? please stick to rodents, as in no "dogs and cats are better" either exotic rodents or these:

hamster
gerbil
ferret
guinea pig
rabbits
rats
mice
chinchillas

just wondering......thanks!!! :)

This morning I had the shock of my life! My two rabbits (both boys, according to the pet shop i bought them from) have produced a litter of 5 baby bunnies. Obviously as I thought they were males this was completely unexpected. So, I could do with a much advice as possible. For example, i've heard that they shouldnt be disturbed as the mother (travis) may kill them, is this true? also, I'm not sure how old they are, I havent checked the sleeping compartment for about 1 week as they dont normally use it so I dont know exactly how many days the babies have been in there, so how old are they when they open their eyes and how long are they (cm/inches) when they are born? Any tips on how to keep mum and babies healthy would be greatly appreciated. I will be phoning the vet tomorrow, but some advice until them would be appreciated.

Does anyone know of any simple games I can play on the ground with my 2 year old gelding to deepen our relationship. I can tell he is warming up to me (I've only had him for 2 weeks) and I want to encourage him to bond with me. I go to the stable every day....even twice a day most of the time, just to spend time with him grooming, tending to his wounds (he was just gelded) and hand walking him. He's been introduced to tack, and I've been on his back a couple times (my vet gave me the OK) but I am really looking for some easy ground work games. Any suggestions?

i was looking online on how to look after outdoor rabbits during winter and i read that beacause there used to cold weather and they would hop around in the snow, it's o.k to let your rabbit out for a 30min run? is that true, i thought that you keep them in the hutch with hay? it may sound like a stupid question but i was just wondering. thanks!

A girl from my work is moving and can't bring her bunny with her. I told her I would take care of it, but I am concerned that maybe my ferret will hurt it. While I know it's a possibility- what are the chances they will get along? My ferret used to play with cats at his old house. And what should I take into concideration when introducing them?
-Thanks in advance...

I had and still have many hermit crabs. Recently, i bought three new ones from PetsMart. One acts like it lived in my hermit crabitat all its life, one never comes out when i hold it, and one is just limp. I put this crab in an ISO tank just in case it was molting. I noticed it has lost two legs; probably because stress. I don't smell a strong fishy odor, just the regular hermit crab smell. It's not completely out of its shell, yet it is really limp. Is my hermit crab dead?

Do you think it is cruel to keep exotics/reptiles as pets? My ex thought so which is one of the main reasons we broke up. I keep reptiles. I also have domestic pets.

I often see people eating a hamburger in their SUV which is adorned with Sierra Club and SPCA bumper stickers. We no longer need meat as a source of protein and most people are fully aware that animal abuse in factory farms is very common. Foods like hamburgers and hot dogs promote diabetes and obesity and are terrible for our health in general. I equate putting pepperoni on a pizza to killing an animal for fun and for taste. We also know that it takes 15lbs of grain to make 1lb of beef so we cannot use the excuse that plants also have feelings as a vegetarian diet is even less harmful for plants in general. We now know that raising cattle is terrible for the environment and is on par with automobiles as a source of pollution. So why do people eat meat and say they care about animals and the environment?

i just adopted a mini-rex rabbit last month from a woman who never played with it. I think it's a girl and she's about 8 months old. she absolutely hates being petted and touched, even when i let her sniff me first she backs away. she's gotten a little better from when i first got her and sometimes lets me touch her head but then runs away. i want to be able to hold her so i can clip her nails and enjoy her rather than just have her just sit in a cage to look at. she even likes my cats better than me!! what should i do?

I have 3 masonry pillars holding up my carport, the center one has about 100 or more bats living in it. They are neat to have there but their urine and guano droppings are rotting the pillar. How do I humanely remove them without paying someone. I just want them to go live somewhere else so my pillar won't fall down.
