I've found a mixture of hydrogen peroxide, baking soda and liquid dish detergent to actually work pretty well. The odor is more than likely in the padding and through to the hard floor underneath so will have to be really soaked and let air dry several times. Would have to be tested to see if discoloring is a possibility though. I was sent this recipe by someone that used it to remove skunk scent from their dog. I figured if it did that it should work on any odor. And, so far it has. Mixture: 1 16-ounce bottle of hydrogen peroxide 2 tablespoons of baking soda 1 teaspoon of liquid dish soap Put in a spray bottle to use.

The absolute best that I have found (and I've tried a lot) is the Oreck enzyme spray. After the stain stops coming up when you dab, let it dry and hit it with an application of their two-step stain lifter (first a stain loosening spray and then a powder) - I've seen that stuff remove tar.
It's only available at Oreck stores and is slightly pricier than pet store stuff, but it works miracles.

We have had limited success with Nature's Miracle with urine stains. It works great for other pet stains. Try Natures Miracle though? It's what we use and it works fairly well.

Petzyme available at Petsmart and other pet stores. In fact, there are a multitude of products that do the same thing. Just look in the same aisle where they have Petzyme. The product not only cleans, it takes away the smell so your dog doesn't keep going potty in the area.
