I've recently started horse shopping in the past couple weeks--looking for a horse that has potential to go to Prelim (and maybe intermediate). So far, I am considering 3 horses: 1. 16.1 8yo TB gelding; POSITIVES:experienced 4'6" jumper (competed pretty successfully); very powerful and atheletic; great conformation; no soundness problems; brave jumper NEGATIVES: cribs (but cribbing collar stops him); tends to be impatient when being tacked up (tosses head in cross ties); not much eventing experience; can be a little too bold to fences at times 2. 17h 7 yo Holsteiner gelding POSITIVES: gorgeous horse; has some eventing experience (but only at novice level); big jump NEGATIVES: slight pigeon-toe in left foot (right foot appears straight) 3. 16.1h 4yo paint/TB gelding POSITIVES: Nice markings; seems to have willing attitude; good conformation NEGATIVES: young and lacking experience; no registration papers Buy a cribber, pigeon-toed horse, or inexperienced younster?

I have a mini lop and she is shedding her fur. I know they use angora rabbits fur in sweaters, what about other rabbits? I also heard of a lady who spun dog fur into sweaters? Does anyone have any information on spinning fur into thread? Thank You

I am totally against all animal testing and the fur trade ect, but is this more acceptable or shouldnt we endorse it at all? And also seeing as though we slaughter cows, pigs, sheep for food why isn't wearing wool or leather classed as an abomination too?

I got bit on a ranch by a large animal. I don't know if it was a horse or a cow. I thought it was a cow but now some people say "cows don't bite" Anyway i want to start a ranch in Wyoming but I don't want to raise whatever bit me. So I was thinking about penguins as I believe a market might exist selling them to zoos and for food to people and what not. I need to know what it was that bit me at the farm? Also do penguins bite? How much would it cost for a couple of penguin eggs so be shipped to Wyoming? I saw Africa has some penguins so I don't think it will be a problem in Wyoming. Does anyone know what they taste like? I need to order them soon so any help will be appreciated.

My nephew wants to know how much a mustang is to buy to own. I specialize in quarter horses and some others, not usssually msutangs.

Here's my problem. I own a 8 year old quarter pony gelding. Ever since we bought him when he was a 4 year old he's constantly chewed on his bit. Not just softly chewing, but constantly working it in his mouth. Every now and then he's stop for a minute but not for much longer. I always had ridden him in a eggbut snaffle. Recently, I bought a new bit for my two year old filly. It's a three piece jointed loose ring snaffle. The other day I decided to try it out on him. He immediatly slowed his chewing and would stop for periods of time. Do you think the three piece bit is making the difference?? Any insights on why he does this?? It doesn't really bug me, but in any shows he is entered in he would be marked down for that. Any ideas would be appreciated!

My 7 yr old Gypsy mare (draft) has poor frogs and soles. Her hoof wall is fine, thanks to biotin, but I need to work on her undersides. Every definition I see of thrush includes a horrible strong stench and black pus. Chynna's feet are just rotting away in parts, especially in the V and the middle of her frog. I can pull out chunks of white and black shredded something from that area. The area around her hoof has it occasionally, but not that bad. I have never smelt an abnormal odor or seen pus. She is prone to hoof abcesses (usually from knocking her feet on rocks) and is barefoot. She is in clean conditions. Stalled at night, cleaned every morning, and in a mostly sand pasture during the day, Is this thrush? I have heard of the success of thrush buster but don't want to buy it unless she has thrush. Thanks in advance, Danielle

I have two male, unneutered guinea pigs (Bob and Chip), both about 3-4 years old. Bob sometimes mounts Chip from the back and Chip always squeels (the same squeel as when they're hungry). They have been doing this ever since I got them and I asked the person I got them from if it's normal and she said yes but I want another opinion. The strange thing is that it's always Bob who mounts Chip, never the other way around. I'm guessing that Bob is the more aggressive animal and therefore sort of the dominant male. Also, I noticed that this was always happening when Chip was trying to drink from the water bottle; is it possible that Bob thinks he is invading his territory? I tried moving the water bottle to see if it changes anything.
