I have a mini lop and she is shedding her fur. I know they use angora rabbits fur in sweaters, what about other rabbits? I also heard of a lady who spun dog fur into sweaters? Does anyone have any information on spinning fur into thread? Thank You

You need a wool breed in order to spin the wool into thread. Mini Lop fur is not long enough. You need a breed like a Jersey Wooly, French Angora, English Angora, Satin Angora, or Giant Angora.

Normally Giant Angoras are the best for wool production from rabbits. All you need to spin the wool is an antique spinning wheel.

I have a friend who spins and she has spun all kinds of fur, including dog and cat fur, but because it is too short to spin alone, she mixes it with a little bit of wool from a sheep. Ask a local farmer for some if you want to spin your bunny's fur.

Personally I have not done it, But I am interested in spinning. I would contact a local spinning group and ask their advice, they may even do it for you.
