This is my boy Falco.
He has his faults but we'd be interested in hearing what you think of him. Not selling or anything - just want an objective view thanks.

The other grade horses I've bought through the years were from friends and people I knew so we didn't bother with it.
This weekend I am going to look at some and I called the guy and they are at his aunt's house, he says some are his and some are his brother's, he doesn't know which ones his brother wants to keep, I have to be there when he says, doesn't sound to eager to sell anything even though he had an ad out. Something just doesn't feel right.
If you think I need a bill of sale, what should it all include?
Thanks!

So much for the working man's hero Bruce Springsteen - he was supposed to be being his teenage daughter a horse in a deal worth about $850,000. He's getting sued over it now

Alright, it's almost the end of the eventing season and my white pikeur breeches have several stainns left on them (after I washed them...) What is a safe way of getting the stains out? They are light coloured (the stains), so if worst comes to worst I can just leave them.
Also, please don't answer if you are just going to say "I don't know," or if you have never washed (expensive) white breeches and are only guessing how to do it, I don't want to ruin my good breeches, I compete for Canada in them!

Thanks, your answers are greatly appreciated...

I have noticed alot of barrel racers with things on their horses that make me just go...yuck!!! I am simple I guess. I like the leather look with some silver. That's it. I don't really care for all this wild and crazy stuff that is comming out, like all the bling bling. Crazy seats on saddles, fur on saddles and breast collars, zebra on anything.

Do you bling?

Why do you bling?

Just a slow night and this came to mind.

If anyone has ever been in doubt about the true nature and spirit of a Thoroughbred, watch this. Who ever put this together did a fantastic job. This horse has inspired me all my life - he was our National hero! I think the clip says it all.

Currently, I am hoping to find employment in my area. I was thinking the other day what jobs I could do as a teenager, and get to be around horses. Do you think that I could succesfully start a (the only word I can think of is business, but it sounds wierd.) job or something where I( excercise people's horses after school if they are sick or on vacation or something? Take them out of the stables or something for awhile, get them to excercise and such.

Do you think it would be possible to do a job like this? We live out in the country, so it's not like it's a fruitless venture, I'm sure I could get atleast one person, but I'm not sure how well it would work. How much would I charge? Also, I'm only 15 and have school and such, so i could only work after school and weekends.

body protecters for jumping? i dont wear one at the moment, but i fell quite badly recently, and wondered if this might be a good idea. some people say they increase the risk of falling in the first place (by limiting jumping position), and leave bruises in minor falls. what do you think weighing up the risks?

Would you prefer to ride a horse who hasn't been broke yet, a green broke horse, or a dead broke horse.(this is mainly towards the people who are experienced in riding)

2007-10-02 08:01:49 · 25 answers · asked by Kamikazi Kala 3

How old are you? When did you start riding? Do you show, if yes how often? Do you ride english or western? Are you in 4-h or pony club? Do you keep your horse at home or boarded (if you don't mind me asking how much is your board)? Do you take riding lessons if so, how often and how much are they? Thanks!

We've had this discussion on the board many times and it is assumed that horses broken or trained by any method other than "natural" is cruel and harsh and that natural horsemanship trainers are demi-gods with followers happy to throw $$$ at them to listen to their pearls of wisdom while the rest of us wallow in the darkness of the uninformed and unlightened.
Here's several articles that I'd like to share and that you might want to consider before you part with those hard earned pennies!

I'm asking this as I own a few horses myself and would like to be able to do this myself. The horses I own are not ridden and do not need to be shoed, they only require trimming. I find it increasingly harder to get a farrier to do this and have the time on my hands to do it.
Has anyone got any ideas?

my 4yo paint had surgery for sand colic at christmas. he eats grain out of a raised bucket and hay off of a rubber matt. he gets sand clear every month, alfalfa every night and corn oil in his feed. he has constant access to very clean water. i am worried about his turnout though, it is very sandy in my area and although his pasture has good grass cover, i'm still worried he is picking sand up when he grazes so i only turn him out a fewa times a week. he gets worked for 1 hour 6 days a week and is in great condition. anything else i can be doing so we don't have to put him through this again?

I plan on buying a mini after I am out of college, and would like my horse to be able to stay inside with me for at least a few hours each day, much like a very large dog would.
I know that there is a way to housetrain a miniature horse, but I can't seem to find any web articles that say how to go about doing it. Has anyone done this before?

In case anyone is curious, I have grown up owing horses, so I know that my horse would need plenty of time in at least a very large yard each day.

Thank you for all your advice and references!

Im am thinking of selling my horse. Is it ever bad to sell a horse? As much as i love him I want a more broke horse. is the saying true that people sell and buy all the time? Should i feel bad like i do for even thinking of this?

as i assume that most of you are aware that all mn slaughter houses have been closed down for the purpose of most people are going , buying horses and slaughtering them for many cruel reasons.

my pros and cons are
pros- horses can not be baught for slaughter any more.
cons- as for the other horse that truly need them, because they are sick is truly unfair because the farmer now only has the choice of putting it to sleep and hireing a rendering company (which would b to much money.), leaving their horse to suffer and die on its own (way to painful!) or shooting it! (which is way to cruel!)
i say that they should open a few in each state that can humainely slaughter them by recomadition of a vet. this way it is fair for the horse and owner.

so my q is,
what are your guys pros and cons on them closing all slaughter houses 4 horses?

I Was Thinking Of Leaving My Horse Without Shoes,
I Ride English And The Horse Would Be Rode 4-5 Times A Week
For About An Hour Probley Less, It Would Be Ride Indoor With A Soft Dirt Or Outdoor With Sand Occasionally in the Feild.
I Wouldnt Be Doing Many Competitions Mabey One Every Month Or Less.
I Would Be Walking Aronud 2 Warm Up, Trot, Canter And A Few Jumps. And The Horse Would Be Turned Out All Year Apart From Winter
Should This Be Ok.
If The Hooves Are Getting Cracked And In Bad Condition I Will Get Them Shoed.

ThankYou

Its the wooden one (not the metal EE cart)

I need someone to strip it down and revarnish it, polyurethane maybe and also repaint the metal areas on it. I would provide all materials I just need labor costs.

I am getting bids from people, I just do not have time to do it myself and need it done by january.

Does anyone have any knowledge what a good labor price is for someone to do this so I know?

I appreciate it.

I have a three year old colt. Up until now I've used a snaffle bit, but now I'm looking for something a little more effective. How do I tell what kind of bit to use?? I heard tons of people say not to use the western, but when I ask they all tell me it depends on the horse. But, dumb me, I'm not sure what kind my horse needs!! lol Any suggestions how how to pick one out?
