Your best bet is to have your vet examine the mare and look for evidence of her having foaled in the past. Otherwise, there is one thing you can look for which may give you a clue- the size and shape of the mare's udder and nipples. Once a mare has foaled the first time and has nursed a foal, the udder never will completely regain its original shape or size. If it is slightly enlarged, then it's possible that the mare has had a foal at some point.

The other thing you can do, since your mare is a Thoroughbred, is check with the Jockey Club and ask if they have any record of an offspring registered which lists your mare as the dam. You can also ask them if that offspring has a performance or race record, which will give you a clue as to what your mare may have produced in the past. Go online to the JC's website at jockeyclub.org for more information on this. Hope this helps.

Your vet can examine her and should be able to let you know.
You can sometimes tell by looking at her vulva some breeders have it cut before foaling is due so that it doesn't tear the mare. If you look hard you can sometimes see where it has been cut and stitched again.
My mare had a foal before I got her I could tell because her rib cage was quite sprung when she gained weight she would look pregnant rather than get a crest and fat bottom. I actually had her tested when I 1st got her because she did look pregnant, she wasn't she was just fat and very convincing. I contacted her old owners and they confirmed that she had two foals quite young!

really the only way to know this is have your vet do an examine on her OR check with the jockey club if she is registered. If she is and has produced a TB fola it should tell you under her records. If you think it was to a qH, App or Paint or some other breed she may have been bred to before check with their registries. Based on her registered name they can pull up any hors ein their system that has that name and any offspring ti produced registred with them. But probably the easiest and quickest way would be for you to have the vet examine her:)

Have a look at her udders. If they are "dropped" then she will have fed a foal. Also if she has any scaring to her vulva. The surest way is to ask your vet to check her.
