Would you prefer to ride a horse who hasn't been broke yet, a green broke horse, or a dead broke horse.(this is mainly towards the people who are experienced in riding)

i agree w/ most of you. i love riding a green broke horse. i think riding a dead broke horse is boring. there's really no excitement. but also its nice to take abreak once in a while and ride a broke horse. most of all though i love breaking a horse from the start, but only if i have the time which i don't seem to have anymore. i love wathcing the horses progression and knowing its all because of me. i taught him that, not anyone else.

I would rather start out a brand new horse. It's like a new notebook on the first day of school. You start working with a colt, and the first day is like writing just a little bit about him on the first page. After awhile, when you learn more about him, you write a little more. And as you train and teach and practice, your horse's story starts to unfold. Every horse has a story, and some have great plots and surprises. You never know where your horse might take you, and training one is a wonderful adventure!

well right now, i would love to ride a dead broke horse! ive ridden nothing but green horses for a looong time and i would love to have a break instead of constantly fighting with them throughout the ride. i did get to ride an amazing dead broke horse a while ago and it was great! but u do get a sense of accomplishment when u win over the green horses. i would just like a little down time on a dead broke one lol.

It depends on what I'm doing. If I'm working and I need to get stuff done then a dead broke horse would be awesome. But if I'm just riding because I want too or because I'm bored then I would probably go with the green broke horse. And if I'm feeling dare devily then I will jump on the wild or not broke horses.

Up until I had my son and got pregnant with my daughter, I didn't care what it was, if it had 4 legs a mane and tail nI would ride it. Now motherhood has made me more cautious, I will still ride a green horse, but I prefer to be surrounded by friends and other riders. If we are going on a long trail rid ei definately prefer a well broke horse, not a dead head but one that's trained to the point i don't have to school it as i go:) A horse with spirit but well mannered if that makes sense:)

I would prefer a horse that hasn't been broke yet the rush you get when your finally able to get on that horse knowing not too many people have been able to ride it. It is a special moment between you and the horse. Besides the best things in life you have to fight for and try again and again to accomplish but once you do your heart and spirit grows and it's something no one can take away from you.

depends on what I plan to do with the horse. If I plan to do in arena work, I'd definately choose the green broke. Gives me more riding experience and will hopefully train the horse to be better. But if it were for trails, I'd probably choose a dead broke, only because I like trail rides to be relaxing and easy going. But all in all I'd choose a green broke.

That depends...if I am wanting to just casually ride and have the ability to be more focused...like not riding with my kids...then I would love to take a green broke horse.
But if I am wanting to do more of the ranch work like out bringing in the cows or moving the cows where I need to be more on task I would prefer to have a really broke horse...slightly green is o.k., but not to where I can't accomplish what my task at hand is.

Depends on what kind of riding I'm doing. Green broke horses are fun, they are challenging and they are so attentive. Dead broke horses are nice if you are brain dead and would like a relaxing ride, and horses who aren't yet broke are fun for the challenge, so I guess it depends on the situation

I'm feeling the effects of aging... I prefer dead broke horses. Ironically, the most recent horse I bought had about 6 months of riding 4 years before I got her. So she was pretty green.... well trained once, but "forgot" most of it. Quiet, quiet, quiet, quiet, though. A little crazy, but quiet. She's quite unique.
I wouldn't mind a green horse, but it has to be trustworthy and quiet.
I'm not getting anything unbroke - ever again.
And if I look at a horse and see the whites of his eyes when I'm saddling it, I'll not go any further :) They need to convey "trustability" before I think about getting on.
Been riding 15 years, spent many of them retraining OTTB's. No more for me. :)

I would most prefer having enough money and own a ranch with all of those horses. But when you live well but not rich I would take the dead broke horse.
