How do dogs get fleas? I would like to know so I can prevent my dog from getting fleas. If possible, can no money be spent?

so i know that dogs aren't suppoused to eat cat food. but i just realized that i'm out of dog food and it's breakfast time in the house which is always hectic with my zoo. well the problem is my car is broke and my friend can't take me anywhere for another hour or so. would it really be so bad for them to eat cat food just this once until i can get to the store????

My Golden Retriever, Teddy has entropia in his eyelids. I was wondering if anyone knows what that is exactly and how I can treat it without surgery.

i have a pleco (dont know what the name of his kind is yet) its about 3-4 inches and i have it in my aquarium (3 fancy tailed goldfish to clean the algae. but when i hold it i notice that its body is pretty spiky. should i be worried that when i hold him that his spikes might be poisonous to my skin or is it poisonous in any kind?? i tried researching about it on google and wikipedia and forums i havent caught anything that says about any pleco being poisnonous to the skin. any advice or knowledge would be appreciated.

We will be driving 12 hours from Atlanta to Detroit over the Christmas Holiday. I think it would be a lot easier for the dog if she just slept during the car ride. Is there anything I can give her to make her drowsy? She weighs around 35 pounds. Last year we tried one benadryl, it didn't really have any affect.

my female dog is going through that time and it is very hard keeping the boy dog away from her. When he tries to "do his thing" she gets mad and bites him, but when they are apart all they do is wine and cry and try to brake things. This has been going on for 4 days and i don't know how much more i can take.
please help

Our 6 yr old dog MIGHT have this, only the biopsy will confirm it. The vet is treating it as a bone infection, for now. We will follow up and discuss other options soon if no improvement.

Anyone have a dog that is going thru this, went thru this? How long did your dog survive? Did you do amputation? Did it help? Did you put your dog down? Any advice or recommendations?

My new puppy (7 weeks old, got him 2 weeks ago) doesn't show much affection. He rarely licks anyone, and if he does, it's only for a second before he starts biting your face. Although he does whine when I leave the room and wag his tail when I come back, he greets me and others by lunging at our faces and biting us. Is this normal? (We are good pet parents, I have another adult dog- a rescue, we never had a pup before- who is the sweetest thing on earth. We NEVER hit our dogs.) But this dog just seems to be out for blood! lol He is so aggressive! He growls intensely at my other dog and constantly bites him, though it seems like most of the time he is just playing. I'm so worried. What do I do? Is this normal, and if not, how do i make sure this pup gets a proper upbringing?

Before anyone freaks out, the reason I have a 7 week old pup is that I am fostering him for a local shelter. The Mom had 14 pups and they were draining her too much adn she was very fragile. The shelter I volunteer for brought in 9 pups of which are all in foster care.
Back to my question... It has been a long time since I had a pup this young.. I am feeding him Avoderm according to instruction splitting it up into 3 meals, but he seems to consistemtly bee looking for more. Is this normal or should I be feeding him a little bit more?

our kitten is funny.. she wont play with the toys we bought for her but she lov plaing with small pieces of paper (like candy wrappers n reciepts) then when my hubby pours milk into his cereal bowl, she cant wait that she drink the milk thats pouring.. and she loves hiding under the blanket! she crawls under everything! a rug, a blanket, dirty clotthes and she can stay there for hours.. and she loves sleeping inside a plastic bag as long as theres some cloth to make it comfy!

our older cat wont sit on bare floor, he has to sit on a pillow.. i taught him how to sit, lie down and crawl but somehow i cant get him to *stay* haha

pls share yours, it would be fun to hear what other cats do hehe

In the end i had to take the decision as life was such a struggle for her with various ilnesses etc. I miss her dreafudlly and feel awful for having to make the decision too. I'm sure lots of others of you out there have been through the same and its really awful isn't it.
