Inside and outside. They have to go out to go potty and hang out with me while I'm outside.

I have 2 large dogs and 2 small dogs and they all stay inside most of the time. I grew up with big dogs out, small dogs in, but I just take the big dogs out for a run every morning and make sure they get lots of big dog exercise so when they come in they are trained to settle and they stay pretty mellow. I do trip over them occasionally because they like to follow the food sourse around the house.

Our Cesapeake HATES to come inside unless its below freezing. As long as the pond isn't iced up, he goes swimming several times a day in the cold water. Of course, Chessies were developed for swimming in frigid water and since their oily coat STINKS, they aren't popular pets and their instinct and integrity hasn't been ruined by BYB's or owners that think their dogs are 4 legged furry people.
Our Greyhounds are house dogs supreme. THEY decide if and when a human gets a spot on the couch. They go out to potty, and when the weather is nice they spend the day outside chasing bunnies, squirrels and grasshoppers.

My dogs are 50-50s. They sleep and eat inside but they want out often to play in the back when it isnt time for a walk. SO i would say I let them in and out about 10 times a day.

Now I have indoor dogs. They would probably freak if left outside for an entire day (mainly because it's like 15 degrees right now, and the house is a balmy 78). I grew up with outdoor dogs- since they were farm dogs, they had no place at all in the house!

Reuben and Lucky are part of the family.
They live inside and I take them for walks at least 3 times a day.
We have a cable that they can get hooked up to when they need to go out and I can't walk them. Reuben will stay in the cold forever, we have to bribe him with food to come back in.

I live in an apartment, so there isn't really too much of an option, but even if there was, I got Jemma to be a part of my family.... not something I keep outside and just socialize with when I am bored or feel like hanging out with her. She is my indoor girl!

They go in our back yard to use the restroom, and go in a large field for exercise, and thats it. No need to 'kick' a dog outside.

Their inside dogs, but the one, a Siberean Husky loves to go outside a lot. The Dobies would rather stay in where it is warm !!
