My Golden Retriever, Teddy has entropia in his eyelids. I was wondering if anyone knows what that is exactly and how I can treat it without surgery.

Entropia means rolling of the eye lid to cause irritation and scratching of the cornea of a dogs eye. Golden can have this condition as well as many other breeds. It is a inherited trait and it is usually best not to breed dogs with this in their family history.
Surgery is the only option to relieve the dogs discomfort as this is very painful for the dog.

This is an excellent description of the issue:

I would have the surgery done and then your golden will be pain and eye irritation free.

Good luck!

"Entropia is the condition in which the pets eye rolls inward,
causing the eyelashes to point inside the eyelid which can cause the dog pain and
possible permanent scar to the cornea, which will result in poor vision. This can
also lead to chronic conjunctivitis and corneal lesions. Signs include closure of
the eyes, plus excess tearing, red eyes, or white spots on the surface of the cornea"

only way i ever had it fixed was surgery, but it was pretty inexpensive.

Entropia is when the eyelids are on the inside not the outside of the lid. This causes them to rub on the eyeball which is very painful and causes infections. The only way to fix it is surgery. Ift is a genetic condition so hopefully the breeder has neutered your dogs parents.

Entropian. I have had a dog with it and surgery really IS the best solution.
Yes, it will cost, but it is a very irritating condition, and can cause long term damage to the eye.
Nothin else works. Have it done soon.

Entropian is a condition where the eyelid "rolls under" and causes the lashes to scrape the eye ball. It is painful and can cause serious, longterm damage. There is no way to fix it exept surgury.
