We got a cat from my mom, he is neutered and is about 3yrs old. He is front declawed. He used to be my 3 yr olds buddy when we would vist, but now that he is at our home, (with better food, more toys and flea and worm treatments) he is biting and attacking anyone that goes within in 3 feet of him. He is exspecially aggressive towards my 3 yr old. We can't pet him or go anywhere near him or he attacks. Does anyone have any ideas, or he will go to the Shelter?!

I have got a major snail problem going on in my tank, they have taken a particular fancy to the bogwood and have laid slimey snail egg yuk all over it, I have removed it whilst doing a partial water change and I don't want to put it back in until I have annhilalated them and their icky gunk.
What's the best way to get 'em? I was thinking of scrubbing the wood with a new (unused) toothbrush and boiling water, but don't want to upset the bacteria thing.
Any tried and tested methods without a 30 mile round trip to the fishy shop? My catfish are seriously pissed off 'cos I've nicked their hidey holes...

I keep seeing people say this, yet no one has cited any sort of study or proof.

To me, this statement doesn't make sense. With a purebred, you pretty much know what potential health problems to watch for. When you start adding in breeds, to me, that seems like it should add more potential health problems.

For example, one thing german shepherds need to be watched for hip dysplasia. Now let's say I breed it to another dog, say, a rottweiler, which also need to be watch for hip dysplasia as well as hypothyroidism. Those problems don't disappear. Now they are ALL in the mix for potential health issues.
(Health issues taken from: http://www.uexplore.com/health/healthproblems.htm )

Let's use people now. If your mom's side of the family has a history of heart disease, and your dad's side of the family has a history of diabetes, you have BOTH of those potential issues, not neither.

Does anyone have any *real* support that mutts are healthier?

i recently found a little chihuahua mix approx. 6 months old about 5 weeks ago. i had her checked up, gave her a full body and blood work check up and she was fine. no one has claimed her so we decided to keep her. i thinks she must have been abused as she is terrified of everything!
now that we decided to keep her we thought it was best to get her vaccinated so a. we were sure she was vacc. against everything and b. now we have our own records for her.
she is now squeeling in pain when i try to pick her up. the vet says that she is just a bit sore as it's a big dose for a small dog.
as she has always been hiding from us as she is just so terrified but she has recently gotten so much better. she actually plays with the other dogs and comes to me from her hiding spot. but now after her shot she just wants to hide, sleep and have nothing to do with me. should i give my little girlie her space for today? let her be? would it give her a set back?
thanks

I have a beagle mix (almost 6 months old) who has recently began to throw up her food...and eat it. She then returns to the bowl and does it all over again. Any recommendations? I've changed the food, but have yet to take her to the vet. Thanks in advance for your help.

my husband and i are currently working on our garden..and we decided to make it more fun for our cats and dog by adding animal friendly plants. We are gonna get some catnip and catmint. I told my neighbour yesterday and she said i was weird and over the top and that the cats would be spoiled! surely its better they enjoy and stay in our safe garden than go wandering around the roads?

My cat seems prefectly healthy, but he keeps vomiting. He shows no signs of a sensitive stomach, and he is not an outside cat. Does anyone have any ideas?

I have a phobia of spiders...

...There is a big black spider in my bath...

...If I put my fancy rat in there (no water) would she eat the spider?

That would be handy, and it'd be nice snack for the rat.

I have a coworker with whom I share a desk with on another shift and he must have fleas because I found one biting my arm and I am constantly finding bites on my legs. I don't have any pets at home, so I know they are not from me. He has a couple dogs and couple cats. How do I approach this situation? I have a baby at home and don't need to bring fleas home to her. It's to the point where I dread coming to work. I told my supervisor who didn't do anything. What should I do now? I don't want to seem like a baby but I shouldn't have to come to work and get attacked by insects. Any advice is appreciated.

I feed my dog plenty but whenever I am eating she stands there with this look on her face that is as serious as cancer. She wants the food that's on my place (currently a croissant) even though her little belly is full of dog food. She is really pleading with her eyes. Why?

I just needed to tell someone that I had to put my dear friend, my Basset Hound for 14 years asleep yesterday afternoon. She had cancer and had lost a lot of weight in a very few days. She was such a good dog. And cute, she had a "Cow Lick" in her fur on the top of her head. Even the UPS man knew her by name and would bring her a treat when he made a delivery. I will truely miss this part of my family.
