He is sleeping a lot more than normal and isn't eating his food. He seems lifeless and is making wimpering noises. Any ideas?

There may be an internal problem. Call your vet.

I'd take him to the vet as soon as possible. You don't mentioned if he's drinking, but if he isn't I'd call the vet immediately and ask about an emergency appointment.

My only other thought is that it could be depression of some sort. Have there been any changes in the household, such as a new addition or departure (human or animal?), change of house. Even if this is the case, not eating has to be taken seriously.

Any change in habits is a question mark with cats. I'd try and take him to the vet. Explain how he is acting. Good luck!

Take your cat to the vet immediately! This is serious and may be life threatening.
