My dog was spayed 6-8 weeks ago. For some reason it never seemed to completely heal, but I wasn't too worried because she wasn't bothered by it; I thought she was just healing slowly. However, over the last couple of days it has started bothering her and looks like it is getting infected.
I called the place that spayed her, but they won't help because it has been so long. They said I can take her to a vet, but I don't have the money right now... is there anything I can do to help her? Is it okay to use neosporin or something similar?

Also, it seems like there is a tight knot or like something hard bulging under where she was stitched: is that normal? It has been like that since I got her back, but others with dogs have said it was fine.

My cat was two years old this past July, we are getting new furniture and he destroyed my old furniture! Is it too late to get him declawed before the new furniture arrives? Meaning is he too old?

Don't worry, I know his front claws are his only defense--BUT he is a TOTAL indoor cat--NEVER outside!

My mother wants to send her dog to live with me for a while (I live in Denver, Mother in Chicago). I've done all the research through the airlines and it seems like it's not a big deal to ship a dog. However, I wanted to check with the Answers community. Have you ever had a bad experience shipping a dog? Any tips or any reason why I shouldn't have my dog shipped?

The dog is a 5 year old 50 pound basset hound in good shape (in case that makes a difference).

I have a 3 year old doberman pinscher, and she's really big, about 85 lbs. she's a very lovable dog but she's very hyper!
whenever people come over she jumps around and runs in circles. and now i have a baby and he's not crawling now, but in a few months he will be and i'm afraid that our dog might end up hurting our son accidentally by being so hyper. Even when my husband and I take her for walks she still comes home and runs around. And because we're in arizona and it's summer time, it's too hot to take her out to the park and let her run all of her energy out. any suggestions?

my neighbors have a REALLY mean rottwieler. he has killed a kitten, bit me, (10 stitches), bit my dog, and 2day, attacked my other puppy (she's okay, but afraid 2 leave the house) i have the nicest dogs, (black labs) so he had NO reason 2 hurt them. when he bit my older dog, he waz on our property, when he bit me i waz walking down the road, & 2day when he attacked my puppy, she ran off her leash (I accidently dropped it) in2 OUR woods.

can i posebly make them get rid of the dog???

We just got two beagle puppies (brothers), and we are trying to potty train them using the crate method, but have separated them... they don't seem to be happy. What should we do?

I have a miniture huskey that I got from a friend of mine a week ago. He is 2 and a half years old. At a couple of months old he had got worms, at 1 he was badly attacked and bitten by a cyote and almost died. A couple of months ago my friend left him in the care of his other friends who didn't take care of this poor guy, friends friend stepped on his paw and ended up breaking it. He got out of the cast about two weeks ago
He is traumatized. Even when my friend had him he wasn't ever given much love or taken care of. He was never taken for walks, bathed, pretty much anything.

This little guy is a sweetheart and it breaks my heart. He is afraid of people, he doesnt bark unless he sees another dog, he doesn't play with any toys, he runs away from most people, he doesn't whine, he won't eat in front of people, he didnt complain when i gave him a bath, he gets scared at the slightest noise.
The only time he gets happy is when I take him for walks. any idea on how to help him?

As the title says where can I go about obtaining one? I'm on my way to college, and I am allowed to have up to a 20 gallon fish tank. So I'm thinking about getting a 10 gallon tank and getting one (and only one) Axolotls, since it lives completely underwater and it's a bit on the exotic side. Just tell me where I could go about obtaining an Axolotls in Cincinnati.

My fish is dying. You might think that it's just a fish and I can just get another one, but I've really gotten attached to this fish. I've had it for many years and it's really big and beautiful. I feel like a horrible owner that I can't cure her. She had been living a healthy life, but one day I decided to feed her commecial pellets and she got constipated and got internal infections.

I'm really depressed...am I exaggerating?

I'm planning on moving to the west coast, and I'm going to drive from texas, (between 20-35 hrs) with my two cats. I was wondering if it would be better to put them both in a large breed dog carrier or keep them in seperate cat carriers? The cat carriers have just enough space for them to stand up, lay down, turn around, but aren't really very big, so I feel kind of bad for cramping them, but I'm afraid that a dog carrier may be too big, they may get tossed around more or something.

I live in a condo with my mother, and we are both looking for a dog. Since I go to college and my mother works, it has to be capable of being alone for a bit. After searching, we both took fond of the chow chow. Is this dog obedient? Aggressive? playful?

ok, i put this question in the general sports section and it wasnt working so ill try it here. my horseback riding trainer is on a big "no stirrup" kick. i have been with 3 different trainers in the last year and they all have different ways on how to do no-stirrup work. should i just let my legs dangle down, or should i hold them as if i had stirrups? my trainer now says they should dangle down, i trust her judgement, she is a olympic level rider, but still. (just a FYI, i would like the answer to be directed toward a H/J rider). thanks!
