Get the diet dog food and seriously monitor how much she eats. A little dog shouldn't eat more than a half cup of food a day. And, don't give in to her begging. Absolutely no treats or people food. Make sure she has plenty of water and, if she's healthy enough, incorporate walks into her schedule.
Remember, you're doing more of a disservice to your dog by allowing it to be overweight than what might seem like you're starving the dog. But, they really don't need as much food as they would eat if you didn't monitor it.

Oh.. I'm really sorry to hear that your baby was attacked. She may stressed from her attack. How long ago has that been?
Sounds like she may need more exercise and you should be feeding her a good dog food that is made for less active dogs. AND no table food.
Hope this helps and she sheds a few pounds, being over weight is not good for her. :-)

More exercise would be the first step. Feed her diet dog food and low fat treats. It takes a while and depending on the size of hte dog, just a couple of pounds could be a huge loss. 2 lbs lost on a 10lb dog is 20% of their total weight.

Supplement her food with canned pumpkin. Ounce for ounce it has fewer calories than regular dog food. It has a lot of vitamins in it, and it helps with digestive issues.
A person I know in golden rescue buys it by the case.
I decrease the food by 1/4, and add twice as much pumpkin. My 2 dogs love it and they get to eat more with fewer calories! Make sure you use pureed pumpkin and not pumpkin pie mix which has sugar. Just pureed pumpkin - check the label!

Longer walk's when you take her out to use the bathroom.
And yes, like your doing cut back on treats.
I feed my puppy 3 times a day...
I dont know how many times you feed her a day..
But I would continue on feeding about 3 time's,
but with less food.
