I have tried to adopt but most organisations won't rehome a pup with young children...I have 3. I want a dalmation and saw some advertised in a paper but when i called the bredder to enquire about it, he wasn't even aware that dalmations have problems with their hearing...also, he has another advert in the paper for a different breed of dog. What should i do?

What are their tendancies? Are they going to tear my house apart? Are they good with other pets? Are they laid back or hyper? Do they bark alot? Any help or suggestions, I would really appreciate. Thanks.

I would like a horse for simple trail/pleasure riding. I'm older and have long put side the need for speed. I don't have a great deal of money, but enough for boarding fees. I do have a vast amount of love and care to give the mare or gelding I'm looking for. I also have many, many years of experience with horses. So, if you have one that you've thought about donating, sending to the auction, or something else, I hope you'll give this a thought. Thanks!

About 6 weeks ago, I switched both cats to canned food. Poppy is overweight, and is now getting one can (5.5 oz) per day of Natural Balance Venison and Green Pea. I've also started giving her 250 mg of Carnitine. She had a UTI when she was a kitten, but she's been ok since.

Anyway, after changing their diet I noticed that the smell of her urine has changed. (I know it's hers because I can smell it on her butt; I can't tell if Sophie's changed too). It no longer has that sharp cat pee smell. I can't think how to describe it....it's not as unpleasant or strong, but it's not roses either!

She is happier and healthier since the change, so I have no reason to believe there's a problem.

I noticed the change BEFORE I started giving her carnitine, so I know that's not it.

I wasn't surprised that her stool changed color, size and odor, but I wasn't anticipating a change in the urine smell. Is this normal?

My female cat was spayed a few days ago and the resulting wound was not what I was led to expect from online research. Does anyone here know if this could be classified as a botched job? The cat is around 2 kgs and is very small. The incision is 2 inches and very ragged. There are 3 cross stitches which pucker up the cut and the ends of the wire are sticking out. The cat also has a shaved leg with a hole that looks like she had an IV in her vein. I knew she would have an incision in her side but not so big or protruding. Any advice?

Thanks for all your replies but he is neutered and I believe he is spraying to mark his territory as I have seen him do this outside. Also, he is part siamese and gets very aggressive if I don't let him outside.

Whenever i'm about the house, I usually have music playing, either on tv or the cd player, etc... Was listing to some tunes the other day, and i changed the track on the cd player.. then my dog suddenly got up and left the room.
I jokingly thought "maybe he doesn't like this song".. hmmmm quite an interesting notion..

Hi,

Just to say that in my profile i stated that i am an animal lover so i feel strongly about any animal suffering. I go to pet shops and see huge great fish stuck in tiny tanks and it makes me so angry that is why i have a big 215 litre tank. It has plants in it and loads of places for the fish to hide. They are happy and healthy and people actually remark that the tank looks quite empty when they view it. (Good to know that there are other people out there who feel just as strongly about the welfare of animals as i do) :)

I have 2 male and 2 female cockateels in a big cage outside. The one female laid 3 eggs, today when i went and checked, there was 2. Could it be that the others, or even her, are eating the eggs? The one egg has a small hole in? The cockateels were inside the house in a cage, and are very tame. The love it outside, so I don't think that it could be stress related?

Firstly, I don't agree with animals being sold in pet shops but I wondered what happens to the animals that aren't bought by the public. I'm sure baby guinea pigs and rabbits have a "shelf life" and I doubt they go to some fantastic, happy place where they live the end of their days in peace! Do you think they end up as ferret food? What happens to them? Serious answers from pet shop owners would be good. Thanks.
