Pets - 6 October 2006

I want to take my dogs on a walk to the park. Doesn't seem so hard you would think! No one is there except us like it almost always is. But, a little kid comes and says something. My dogs go BALISTIC!!! My one dog starts getting out of it's leash and they are barking like mad and my dogs attack each other! I pull them apart eventually and used a really angry voice saying some stuff to them. I don't understand what is wrong with them! They are as sweet as can be when they are at home unless there is an unknown person or dog! I've been trying to make them stop and get my parents to take them to obediance school or something but they say that since one of our dogs is 8 and the other 6 that it's too late. Are there anythings I can do to stop this at home myself?. I just want to take a normal walk without the fear of something terrible happening!

My pug puppy noises scare me so much.. I get so worried about him sometimes with all the wierd noises he makes. I knew before I got a pug that I'd hear these noises, but didn't think it'd be so freaky! There's loud grunting, snorting, SNORING, wheezing, etc. Anyone have pugs who can reassure me that this is normal? Also, my pug today ate about 2 sour cream and onion potato chips, I heard that onion is bad for dogs..will he be okay? He started wheezing a little bit after eating the chips, but I don't know if it was from the chip or just cuz he is a pug. Please help! Any advice greatly appreciated!

I've had my dog for 14 years now. He's been my best friend. Last year he snapped one of his rear tendons. He was bad for a while crying and howling in pain in the middle of the night and dragging his back legs--But now... ( w/excersize and protein powder) He's rebounded and been doing good for the last 4 months with no pain. He limps when he walks and moves very sloooowwwlllly. Long story short- he's not ready to die but he can't survive another winter outside and can't hold his bladder/poo for more than about 4 hrs. Eats good drinks TONS. Wags his tail- kinda runs, falls down sometimes when he tries to get spunky. Sleeps a lot. All in all he's OK but this winter will kick in his arthritis and be painful for him- but I don't want to make the wrong decision and cut my best friends life short. I just don't know what to do... Should I wait till he's in unbearable pain to put him down? Do it now? I feel so guilty.

I got a puppy from the shelter today, and they think its a Rottweiler mix. Someone else suggested it was a lab mix of some kind, maybe german shepherd. Heres some pics...

Animal hospital... they said if they couldn't get wild life to come and get it they would uthinize it. Was I wrong to leave it there? He hopped around my house for several days and all his pigeon friends seem to have left him behind. I feel guilty now.

I'm into more smallish type animals (Like rodents and stuff). I want something the can be kept in a cage (Big or small. Doesn't matter), and it has to be some-what social. I tried out gerbils and dwarf hamsters (I've had 3 dwarfs and 2 gerbils). What else should I look into getting?
