I want to take my dogs on a walk to the park. Doesn't seem so hard you would think! No one is there except us like it almost always is. But, a little kid comes and says something. My dogs go BALISTIC!!! My one dog starts getting out of it's leash and they are barking like mad and my dogs attack each other! I pull them apart eventually and used a really angry voice saying some stuff to them. I don't understand what is wrong with them! They are as sweet as can be when they are at home unless there is an unknown person or dog! I've been trying to make them stop and get my parents to take them to obediance school or something but they say that since one of our dogs is 8 and the other 6 that it's too late. Are there anythings I can do to stop this at home myself?. I just want to take a normal walk without the fear of something terrible happening!

no there really isn't....did you ever take your dogs out around people or other dogs when the were babies? if you did then they would have a better chance of socializing and if you didn't than that is why....but in some cases dogs are just unfriendly around people they don't know....i had to put down my dog beacause he was like that. in the end if the dog actually does something terrible then it would be best to put the dog down....but if you don't go on walks often then you should be fine. good luck and i hope everything works out alright for you and your dogs.

My 3 1/2 German Shepperd was the same way, after we got another little girl named Shelby , she is now 7 months. Simba the oldest barked and snip at people when I took him for a walk. After I had him neutered he behaves quite differently, he can go for walks with no problem. My little one is spayed also, but since I have a back yard she doesn't know how to walk on a leash. What I am doing now is talking both for a walk at nite when hardly no one is there. and she is beginning to learn how to walk on a leash.. But remember that some dogs are very protective of their owners. My dogs, if they hear a car outside they start barking and I have to loOK out the window and tell them it is ok. Until i do this they won't stop. When I take the oldest(Simba) to the vet I have to put a muscle on him. So try by neutering or spaying, if that doesn't;t work they are just protecting you and muscle them. And it is a myth that when dogs are older they can learn, usually then is when they try to make you happy and learn more quickly. Remember animals want to satisfy their master.

There are some really good books out there. I think you may want to take them separately. You can control one easier. Also, they need to be around people more. It's like they can't act normal because this is not their normal environment.
dog school really has to be done by the person that is going to be with them and ir must be consistent, not just at school or when with your parents. So, get some reading material and get them used to being a round people alone at first and maybe have someone else take the other one when you go. I just don't know, my dog is in a lot so, I don't have that problem. Good Luck to you all.

They are fighting for control/showing dominance - of what I'm not sure. Two of mine do the same thing if I let them out at the same time in the morning. They race to the door and struggle with who goes out first, then on to the bird feeder and fight over who gets to sniff it first, then they disagree about who gets to relieve herself where first. The easiest solution is to let my dogs out one at a time. The first dog is done by the time the second dog goes out and the second dog has no competition for sniffing/potty rights and they can both then enjoy the yard together. Our other dogs don't seem to share this problem. You should give your dogs separate walks and individual attention so they each know they are special and "the" dog on the walk.

i suggest you take one dog at a time, then as time goes by after each dog has had it's walk, try walking them together. once their tired from the first walk their energy level should be more calm.
getting their attention on you when you walk them may help a bit
also. but try the walking each dog separate for awhile until they are tired and you'll have better luck and control over them.
a tired dog is a good dog.

Watch the Dog Whisperer Season one Disk 2 with Ceasar Millan. He did a case just like this.

Of course every case is different, but with the one he was dealing with, the dogs have all this energry building up when something sparks them, and not being able to get it out on what originally got their attention, they take it out on each other.

He corrected it by be calm asserted with them and keeping their attention on him and nothing else. He's the alfa dog, and they have to respect him.

Check it out, maybe it will help you a bit.

I love his shows.

They are not at home, where the rules has been settled.
Out on walk, they fight each other for the open position,-the boss!
If you don't want to through lots of training them at their age, I'd recommend you walk them separately by taking turns.
