First off be calm, it has been said a dog can die from eating to much chocolate, but I ad a dog once that ate an entire batch of chocolate bunny's from Easter and it was a lot, she did not die. This does not mean that your dog will not be sick so call a local vet and ask for their advice. Most likely she will be fine, but she may get constipated so watch a make sure she has her normal bowel movements if she does not then take her to the vet.

We had a black cocker spaniel and have a beagle now that both love chocolate. It is not good for them and can give them an awful belly ache and diarrhea. They say it is poisonous to dogs but I'm not entirely sure that is true. Our beagle ate one of those big Hershey kisses that you get on valentines day and it didn't do anything to her. The cocker spaniel ate a big heart shaped box of chocolates and it didn't seem to bother her either. Just keep an eye on her and if she gets diarrhea just keep her outside. If you put her outside and she has an upset stomach she will eat some grass to vomit.

Although it does cost some money, it can save her life and they will walk you through the entire process, as I had to do when my collie/beagle ate one pound of dark chocolate. I was glad I spent the money. they saved her life and it was cheaper then the vets. CALL NOW.

I have a thirteen year old golden retriever and recently he ate a small chocolate bar during Halloween 2011. I took him to the animal hospital to ask the doctor if it would hurt him. He told men's small bit will give a dog bad diarrhea but a large amount could cause something fatal. I don't know if that's true but my dog was crapping bad for a week.

You need to take her to the vet now (or call them and ask if the amout she ate is lethal)!!! What they will do is give her a liquid that makes her throw up immediately, before she digests. It actually isn't the chocolate itself that is harmful to dogs, but the caffeine that dogs do not tolerate and can die if they have an overdose.

I don't know if different breed makes different reaction, but my three month old chiuaua ate chocolate two times. She was about 5 pound.
The first time was 16 oz.whole box of milk chocolate covered cookie. She throw it up, it was at night time, and I was worried to death. She was hot, and short breath. three hours passed when she finally cooled down.
The second time, it was another 16 oz. dark chocolate kisses.
Her eyes were barging out, she ran the circles around the house, her nose was hot and dry like the first time. Of course it was night time again, and I thought I was loosing her.
She didn't throw up this time, but after about five hours, she was okay again.
No, I do not give her chocolates, but, I won't be too worried if she happened to have some.
I wish your dog will be fine too.

It depends on how much she ate. Its a stimulent to dogs, like caffiene in humans. Caffiene will actually kill people, but its not somethig yoy hear of often because most people dont consume enough at one time to become poisoned.
If it was milk chocolate, and not bakers chocolate she's probably okay.
If it was recently take her to the vet and have her stomach pumped. Otherwise you can call and see what they would advise you to do.

It depends on the kind of chocolate. Milk chocolate contains little cocoa which is what hurts dogs. I personally give my dogs milk chocolate in little doses. Best to see a vet.

Your dog can die. My friend had a dog which was a golden retriever and it died from eating a small piece of chocolate. So I suggest taking it to a vet ASAP!
