I have a 55 gallon tank with 2 independent filters (no bottom filters though). In that tank I probably have 8 live plants, 2 red tail sharks, plecostamis (misspelling), 9 neons, Betta and 2-3 other fish. I have had the tank up and running with fish in it for about 2-3 months. However, during that time it always appears cloudy. Tested the water and it said that our nitrates / nitrite levels were off and that we should try adding algie. Added Biospira, it will fix the tank for about 3-4 days then BAM, back to cloudy.

I am hesitant to do a water change because the water is so bad where I live that I am scared it will mess up the tank even more.

Aside from Hiring someone to come in and get it good. Are there any ideas to get me back on track with the tank?

Today I had to take my Cat thats been with me for over 8 years to the Vet .In the last 2 months he has lost all control of his Kidneys.I noticed this mostly by the strong Urine smell in my apartment(First I just thought he was spraying(but not likely as he is fixed and hasnt done so before)The Vet did some test and found out he has got Tumors on his KidneysHas anyone ever heard of this)basically was told I need to put him down in the next few weeks as with his age and how far gone the tumors are ,it would be best.I am just devastated over this.Is this the right thing to do.He is like a family member so its a hard decision.How do I make this decision.To make things easier would it be wise to get another Pet right away(My 4 year old son will be lost without his Kitty)They have been inseparable .What should I tell my son when Kitty isnt here anymore.Anyone gone thru this and how do you handle.

if your neigbors dog had been tied up for about 2 years and has been let off the chain two times in those 2 years. the dog has a dogloo for shelter. I think it is extreme animal cruelty to do this but I am also a huge animal lover. Am i overreacting ? What would you do? They just got another dog about 6 months ago and they have started chaining it up recently for days at a time. The dog is supposedly"not theirs" and they are keeping it for someone. thanks!

My cat likes to hump stuffed animals and I mean he gets down and dirty....he isn't picky either. He likes german shepherds, dolphins, bunny rabbits and he especially likes it when my soft vellux blanket is wadded up in a nice fluffy pile. It's so nasty!! Help!

i want to get a leopard gecko really bad. i never had a gecko before, but i am pretty responsible with pets. my mom says she doesnt want one in our house because there gross, bad looking, and she claims she heard somewhere that one bit sharon stones' toe off. is there any good facts about leopard geckos that may convince my mom to let me get one?

My beta is losing his color in his face area? Why is this? His color seems good throughout his body area. He's blowing bubbles and seems happy. I just got him though. He may be stressed out?

Have a mother skunk and two babies and they get in through
chain link fence into the yard. I have blocked off area around
where gates are but that doesn't stop them. Its not allowed to
shot (which i wouldn't do in the first place) them, have a trap
cage but they seem to smart for that. Is there any thing i can
put out around in the yard, like some kind of offensive smell
that they wouldn't like. Some one told me about mothballs, but
not very relieable. Have any suggestions?

it eats but its eyes are swollen and it scraches it on the board it stands on constantly. it drinks water. its mouth doesnt close. the feathers right around the eyes are gone and it looks like the eyes are moving closer together. i dont want it to die. does anybody know what it is and waht to do?

How come every night when Im changing into my pjs, my cat enjoys watching me undress? I mean, I start taking my clothes off and if he sees me, he runs into my room excitedly!

Note- none of my dogs ever do this. only my cat Otto.

Is he just really perverted or do other cats do this?
