Have a mother skunk and two babies and they get in through
chain link fence into the yard. I have blocked off area around
where gates are but that doesn't stop them. Its not allowed to
shot (which i wouldn't do in the first place) them, have a trap
cage but they seem to smart for that. Is there any thing i can
put out around in the yard, like some kind of offensive smell
that they wouldn't like. Some one told me about mothballs, but
not very relieable. Have any suggestions?

She is probably taking her kids there to find something to eat. Make sure that you take all of your pet's food into the house at night. If you have a bird feeder up, try to clean up all of the grain under it every day.

Skunks can dig. Buy a cheap electric fence charger and string a wire only about 6 inches above the ground. When the skunks touch this with their noses, they will learn not to come back. I think that we bought one for about $30 a few years ago to keep the chickens from eating and scratching up my flower garden. The current is very low in the fence, but will hurt more on the skunks sensitive noses.

Did you know that skunks catch more mice then cats? Skunks really don't like to spray and will stomp their feet as a warning first.
A couple of months ago, a mother skunk was killed by our house on the road. My son found 5 orphan babies almost dead from starvation. The other 4 were dead already. He gave them cat and dog food. Only four out of of the nine made it. We don't see them anymore, but almost every morning, we can get a slight smell of them.

I don't know, but I hope someone can help with this as we have the same problem here. We live practically in the woods and we get all kinds of critters in out yard at night. Some of them I do not mind, but skunks I can live without.

Often they have a den under some steps or a porch or a deck. You can try mothballs, but if the den is under the house you may get the mothball smell in the house.

You could go on e-bay and find something that would not harm them and you could find an animal cachter that would not hrm them.
