I am fostering a 4 yr old golden retriever. And since I brought him home from the shelter about a week ago, he's only eaten about 3-4 cups of food. The shelter gave me the same food he had been eating there, but he won't eat. I'm really starting to get concerned. Any suggestions?

Where do I go to report a veterinarian for unethical practices in Raleigh, NC? Also, what message boards are good to let people know not to go to this particular vet?

Does it need a tank, rocks? What do they eat? Fresh running water like an aquarium or still water?

I want to buy my daughter an aquarium for her 2nd birthday. I have been searching for a princess, castle, girly themed tank but can't seem to find any. Has anyone ever heard of something like this?
Thanks in advanced!

If purchased as babies, could they learn to get along, or would nature take over?

Took cat to vet 2 weeks ago, raised my concern if my 8 month kitten
is pregnant? Told to wait 2 months and see.

So far for the past 3-4 weeks I noted more affection, seeking
attention, nipples turning from white to pink (now), tummy area
sticks out on both sides due to doubling of her appetite. Also,
her stomach seems sway a little from side to side as she walks.
She seems a littlle more unwilling to jump and play. She used
to sleep with almost all night on my side. Now she doesn't and
prefers to lean against a laundry basket or curtain when evening
temp is between 65 to 70 F. She used to follow me everywhere,
now she roams by herself to a quiet room. Before, she would
always follow me everywhere or sit/sleep next to me. We were
taking care of her smaller brother (3 to 8 months) before the owner
took it to their home after stay abroad. Any thoughts?

We think he gets bored while we're sleeping. We bought him some toys and that worked for a few days but he's back to waking us up to play. Any ideas?

She is a lab/rot mix and recently started acting lazy and tired. She also is losing patches of hair on her chest and she also has a patch missing on the top of her neck that looks like an open sore. She is usually very active running everywhere hunting and playing. I don't want the expenses of going to the vet, but I wondered if anyone knew what she might have and how I could treat her over the counter. I will take her to the vet if need be, but looking for alternative. Closes thing I could find for her symptoms was mange. We lost a cat 1 year ago to these same kind of symptoms because we just asumed he had gotten in a fight with another animal, but now that my dog is showing the same symptoms, I don't want to lose her too. Thanks

everytime I put my yearling colt in the run-in barn and a gate up to block the opening, he always goes to the gate and looks out to try to find the other horses. There is a bent chain-link fence beside the gate. When he can't find the other horses, he gets upset and tries to break the fence and gate down. He tosses his head and trots back and forth neighing. I've tried to just stand back adn let him just tire himself but when he tried to break the fence, I tried to lead him around in the barn. He ran in front of me and be4 I had time to move, he kicked me in my side. Can anyone tell me how I can settle my horse down and learn to forget about the other horses? I've tried leading him, feeding him, talking to him, and just letting him run til he was tired. I don't know what else to do.
Can anyone give me some tips to calm him down?

I have been successful in breeding my yorkie and my female maltese. I do not want to physically over tax her and for the last 5 years she has only gone into heat once a year. This year is different, because she has gone into heat again. She weaned her pups at 6 wks in the middle of March. Will it be dangerous for her to have another litter this year and is it because she is older that this is happening? I love her dearly but as a single mom, the extra income is welcome. Though, I love her more than the money. I was only going to breed her once more and then have her fixed, but I don't want to indanger her health. Should I wait, stop, or go ahead? Please - dog lover's and Vets, don't cast me in hell. I screen carefully and follow up. It's been necessity only. I just want the facts.

I noticed that my cat has to put his paw in his water bowl and drags it or moves it before he begins to lap up his water. Some days his bowl is a couple of feet away from where I specifically placed it when I replenished it. He's drinking distilled water now. His eyesight IS better in the darkness than the light. Awesome!! I read somewhere that as cats get older that their eye sight gets worse and that they have trouble with depth perception but when I ask my or his 8 or 9 vets he's had in his life time with me for about 9 years now, they all say no that that is not the problem but none of them can tell me why though. Can a knowledgeable person concerning cats help me with my dilema? Please? Thanks.
P.S. If you do not know the answer please do not guess and please do not answer this question. I'm needing precise researched knowledgeable accurate answers, Please?

I have a labrador retriever and a dachshund. Our dachshund is 8 years old and our lab is only 3 yrs old. Lately my lab will run up to my dachshund and corner her and growl while my dashshund cowers down and then my lab will growl more and then start attacking her!

This is extremely strange because they have always gotten along good and my lab is so sweet with humans. I just need to know what is going on and what I can do to stop her. I don't want to get rid of her because she was a stray and we took her in when she was 6 months old. I dont want to add to the population of dogs who dont have homes. I just wont do that. I need to know how to correct this behavior because she hasn't injured my dachshund badly but i am afraid one day she might. please give me your suggestions.

I have two outside dogs and we live in west texas. I spray them with the tick and flea killer yet they seem to get overrun with ticks. I never noticed them before the other day when my collie broke his chain and I had to put him in the bathroom. He shook himself and ticks flew out everywhere, literally hundreds of them. They are extremely small ticks that look kind of lavenderish. If anyone knows what kind of tick or how to prevent them please help. I just applied the monthly otc tick and flea killer by Hartz.
