If a dog was to come in contact with the plant it most likely would not effect him because of his fur would work as a blocker of sorts. There might be a problem though, if you were to walk over to him and pet him on his head or his back for being such a good boy and sitting so nicely for this picture. Because it would have been exactly were the Poison Ivy contacted him and it would ultimately transfer to your hand and where ever you may put your hand afterwards.

No only humans can get poision ivy beacause it is an alergic reaction to the oil. Dogs however are not alergic to poison ivy. Also the oil will not get past the fur. However a dog can give you poison ivy so watch out

They can get poison ivy on their coats, but it doesn't bother them. Dogs do not have a problem with poison ivy. You can get it from them if they have the oil on their coat and you pet them. The best thing to do is to give the dog a bath to wash the oil off.

They can get it on their bellies. Otherwise the sap usually stays on their fur and when you pet them you get a big dose of it on your hands. Then when you rub your eyes, scratch your arm, brush your hand over your leg and hold your weiner when you pee - watch out! If you have a dog or cat who likes to roam outside you may want to check the area for any poison ivy, oak or sumac. They're quite easy to identify.

Yes, it is possible. You can rub calamine lotion on dogs. Only big ones though. If you are not comfortable with that, go to the local feed store. One that has horse feed, and buy some chickweed salve. That stuff is amazing, and he can use it one himself! Good Luck!!
