Where do I go to report a veterinarian for unethical practices in Raleigh, NC? Also, what message boards are good to let people know not to go to this particular vet?

There should be a veterinary board that you can report him to. DO an internet search to see if you can loacte it. Otherwise, visit another vet and ask if they have the information.

You have to be very careful about waging an Internet attack on him. If you step outside of the law, you can be sued for libel and defamation.

Edited to add the link to the complaints with the NC Veterinary board. : )

I've worked as a Veterinary Technician for almost 18 years and the number of unethical practices I have witnessed in my time is astounding. Remember the difference between a Veterinarian and a manager at Walmart is only about 4 years of school - and the Vet can prescribe drugs and perform major surgery!

As pet owners if you would like to stop this behavior remember these suggestions when you go to your veterinarian:

1. Educate yourself
2. Ask questions
3. Ask more questions
4. Demand proof

I am convinced that the back of every veterinary textbook says - "...and if you can't figure it out (or don't have the time) just give them antibiotics and steroids and collect your fee."

Good Luck

You state is who licenses the veterinarians. I would file a written complaint with them. Be clear exactly what was done wrong and include any supporting documents in your letter.

If it was an unfair trade practices issue, you can also report them to the BBB (www.bbb.org)

But before you report this person, have you tried resolving the problem directly with them? I would write the clinic a letter explaining your concerns. You should also be clear what you'd like done about it (vet fees refunded? change of business practices? etc) Send it certified mail and give them a fair amount of time (at least 2 weeks) to respond.

I would NOT advertise their name as a "bad" vet online. If you do choose to discuss it with others, stick to the objective facts. A negative ad campaign against them may look like slander, and it could make you look like the 'bad guy' once the State does investigate.

unfortuanately,if u complain to the vet board, they probably wont do anything, even if another vet reports them.im a vet tech and i and other vets witnessed a vet steala nd use drugsmcome to work drunk and all other sorts of stuff. The vet i worked for reported him and nothing was done.this guy moved onto another vet practice, did the same, and finally lost his license only because he was arrested for buying drugs from an undercover PO.
It really stinks.

Ifr you have a bad vet. then you buy eggs and a pistol then egg her house and when she comes out of her house shot her and then kill yourself so that you wont go to jail. My friend did it except he didnt kill himself and it worked he moved to China and killed his vet there.-seriously, just move each time he just stole the bullets and the money so that he could move and hold up the stores for money

Go to the whitehouse and ask Mr. Bush to penalize the vet.

First you tell us why it is a bad vet so we know the story and can decide for ourselves.

I would probably visit your local police station and explain it to them, and if they don't listen, maybe the Humaine Society? I hope your animals are okay!
