If you want to incur the very best of Karma, go to your lodcal SPCA or animal shelter and adopt a dog. Most of these organizations will provide you with a dog that is:
a)housebroken
b)spayed or neutered
c)has an implated ID chip so you can retrieve it if it gets lost
d)has all it's shots
Puppies are cute, but go for a dog at least 6 months old
Pick an animal suitable for the space you live in - large dogs need space to run
Don't shy away from mongrels - pedigreed dogs are suseptible to genetic diseases due to reinforcement of recessive genes in their breeding
Most rescue organizations will let you take the animal out on the grounds on a leash. This will allow you to assess their personality. Is the dog nervous, calm, frisky? Most dogs will be a little frisky when they first come out of the pen.
Good luck and I hope you find the dog that suits you best!

If you do not have yard. Do not get a Beagle. They are a very hyperactive breed. They are hunting dogs and always follows their nose so they need a yard to roam around. Don't deny this luxury to them. I have a Corgi. They are very smart and cute. They are also well behaved (especially at night). But they shed, so if you dont mind a shedding breed I reccomend a Corgi. It will really depend on your lifestyle and how much time you can spend with your pet. A freindly advice: DO NOT GET A DOG IF YOU CAN'T SPEND TIME WITH THEM. Dog ownership is a lot of responsibility. Check out www.dogbreeedinfo.com. Good luck. Hope you find one that lives up to your expectation as well as the dogs'.

The kind that fits into your lifestyle. If you live in an apartment or a crowded area you might want to get a small dog and forget a beagle or any type of LOUD dog! Are there small children in your life? A large dog could very well knock them over.
Take into consideration their care; would you mind devoting time to grooming? My dog's a wire hair and I have a constant light cloud hovering around the baseboards.
Also, take the pup who approaches YOU with clear eyes (no leakage from nose or eyes; no dry nose, either) and is wagging his tail.
In *my* opinion, you really don't need to teach a dog loyalty, that grows with love and time.
Dogs need to be fed, de-fleaed, de-wormed, walked, watered, taken to the vet, um...

I have a bulldog which I abosulety love. They are a lot of work, and unfortunately come with a lot of health problems, but bulldogs are known for being gentle with children and loyal to their owners. If you have the time (they need constant attention) and the money (they always have some health issue) then I definitely recommend a bulldog. They require certain things though so you have to read up on them. I had a beagle in the past and while he was a great dog, he was not very affectionate. My bully cuddles with me all the time. They also do not need a lot of exercise so if you don't have a fenced in yard they are perfect.

I have two beagle mixes and they are the greatest dogs. Very loving. I must warn you though. They do like to bark , chew, and are a little hyper for the first year or so. If I ever get another dog it would be a beagle or a black lab. I love them too!

it depends on your living environment if you live in a small place it might be best to get a small dog.if you want a good watch dog dobermans or Rottweiler are good.if you have lot of area to let them play boxers and Pitt bulls are good.if you get a pit bull make sure you spend time with it,they are not normally aggressive around people mostly other animals, but this isn't a problem if it has other animals to socialize with when it is a puppy.i love pit bulls i take mine on lots of walks and she has never had any problems.Labradors make great dogs for a family dog.

i would recomend labs but you need a lot of space and time for them. they need a lot of excercie. if you hve a lot of time to excercise a dog you can get any type but you don't have much time you can get a small breed dog.i also recomend you get them from a shelter or a rescue unit(place where they rescue animals). i got mine from a rescue unit. you also might want to consider if you have children you might have to get a dog that are good with children.if you want a dog good with children you would get a lab. if you want small dog i would get a papiloin. if you want a protective dog i would get a german shepard.
HOPE THIS HELPS!!
