Thanks again popdop! the only reason I asked this because some of the pigeons my friend in L.A. owns will sometimes reject their young and I wanted to know what I should do, if my friend happens to give me one of the babies if the foster parents don't except it.

I've got a lot of links to wildlife carers from a lot of countries on my site, at
http://au.geocities.com/leaswebsite/links under "Wildlife Assistance" - just click on them all, click on your country and state, have a browse, 'phone them and ask their advice if you ever need to.

Good on your for caring!

Do not use the canned human baby formulas. Most have a lot of lactose in them and pigeons can't digest it. If the squab is over about 4 days old, then you can simply go to any feed store and get some turkey or game bird mash. Mix it in a blender with enough water to make it a smooth (and I do mean smooth) slurry. Something on the order of pea soup (which can also be used in a pinch to feed baby pigeons). I've reared hundreds of squabs of all breeds on turkey mash and/or chicken grow mash that was blended.

There are handraring formulas available in most pet stores to suit various birds. For emergency though (in the event you are not near a pet store), you can give all birds canned powdered baby formula to keep you going until your sort out the pigeon's diet.

I wad up wheat bread and put it down his throat if you have no KAYTEE. That works just as good if you dont feed it too much of it

Don't feed it and don't touch it.
