Common sense finally prevails, Gillian Gibbons will be released shortly. The whole episode has been a total shambles, i hope sincerely that she is well, but never steps foot in any of these backward countries again.

How is Israel always morally just, I would assume that the Arab governments probably fear Israel's nuclear program and how much leverage Israel holds over the Palestinians, not to mention the illegal settlement issue, and how Israel has just recently cut power to Gaza making it almost impossible for Gazans to live their daily lives! Does anyone care about the Palestinian people? If so, who? Not even the Arab states truely care about the Palestinians, they seem to be using the Palestinians for their own benefits! And the fact that Israel holds about 10,000 Palestinian prisoners currently!

Look guys the united states should invade Iran. Why not? We have the military might. I say lets bomb the crap out of them and go take all there oil. Then if any of the rest of these Muslim freaks get up in our business we should just stop messing around drop a couple of nukes and make it glow in the dark.

When browsing some headlines on an online news-site, I noticed a small photo attached to a story of a person's hand holding the bowser pump as they put petrol into their car. The associated text said "file photo." Now I assume that covers the media legally so that no one is supposed to think that the photo was taken especially for the story? Or does it mean it's just photo that they have on file and isn't covered by copyright?
or something else?
thanks in advance.

I keep up with the news (mainly BBC) and current events. Russia is really starting to worry me. Putin is becoming increasingly agressive, not to mention the fact that I have a strong feeling he's the puppet master in the Middle East. It was less than 20 years ago when we were involved in a Cold War with Russia, in my opinion, they still cannot be trusted.

With everything thats happened recently and the worlds ever decreasing opinion of the United States, does anyone else feel that something big is about to happen? Maybe I'm just being paranoid, I hope Im just being paranoid, but I really do feel that this is all leading up to something big.

Everyday we get servings of the events that unfold in the world. We are served through television, the internet, print publications and the radio.
Alexis Debat, A consultant on terrorism for ABC News was caught fabricating news about having fake interviews with Hillary Clinton, Bill Gates and Michael Bloomberg. As shock absorbers of the news is it safe for us to rely on them? Should we believe everything the newscasters say on television? The News media is therefore not trustworthy.

The major role of the federal government is to provide for national security.

The death camps and the gulags of Hitler and Stalin proved that men were capable of infinite depravity, an inhumanity that we are now witnessing again in Islamist terrorism.

According to the report tonight, of the one million former Iraqi Christians, thousands have lost their lives at the hands of Iraq Moslems in the new regime, all of the ancient churches have been closed and almost half a million have been forced to flee. It would be a sad irony if the only lasting impact of our involvement over there were to irreparably harm our Christian brethren over there in Iraq. Why is there not a great outcry from all of the Christian churches of the world at this outrage. Muslims march and protest over alleged insults to bears. Why are not Christians justifiably outraged by Muslim attrocities over there?

Many companies have tried to do away with Christmas by not putting Christmas in their ads, catalogs, mailings, and even having their employees refrain from saying "Merry Christmas" to customers after leaving the checkstand. Even our government is trying to get rid of most things having to do with God. SO, when you meet people in stores, your neighborhood, etc. will you say Merry Christmas or Happy Holidays? Or, would you not get involved?

Is there anyway to find out who various newspapers have endorsed for President of the US in the past? I'm pretty sure my local paper (the Miami Herald) has never endorsed a republican over a democrat in any senate or Presidential race, and I was curious if papers like the Boston Globe, New York Times, LA Times, etc have ever endorsed a republican for President.

Without Gorbachev, Russia may have not only have defaulted on its Cold War strategy by starting a conflict in order to maintain domestic stability due to a floundering economic system, but would also not have engaged in many democratic reforms such as increased freedom of the press, freedom of speech, and freedom of demonstration.

Still, today's Kremlin continues to undo many of Gorbachev's reforms insisting that such leadership has provided citizens throughout Russia with opportunities never before realized. Is Gorbachev's critical opinion of the Kremlin (yet positive one on Putin) one that will receive the ears of those who matter, or has his time passed as a political activist and transformed into that of a historical/ academic celebrity?
