How much did a newspaper cost in the 1940's?

most of them are still 50 cents today.....based on inflation rates you'd think back in the forties they were given them way

No need to guess. You can access a ton of newspaper archives from the 1940's at this site:

Find a few front pages from the 1940's, and see what the price was. 5 cents sounds about right, though.
