Common sense finally prevails, Gillian Gibbons will be released shortly. The whole episode has been a total shambles, i hope sincerely that she is well, but never steps foot in any of these backward countries again.

I couldn't agree more about the aid, lets look after our own first, why do we keep on propping up these barbaric regimes.
Money whould be better off spent on failing NHS and sundry other urgent matters.

Timo, apparently it was a secretary who reported her, one who had a grudge, for whatever reason, perhaps it was because she is white, that's my thought, and quite frankly this nonsense about when in Rome do as the Romans do, if that was the case why doesn't it happen in the UK. We have a huge Muslim population and most do not adhere to that principle here. We have for too long supported regimes that are barbaric and totally regressive, and i would dump the whole lot. We give huge anounts of money in aid and what do we get back for our generosity, hatred and bombings, death threats, and chaos.

It's not that common sense has prevailed, it's more likely to be because two muslim peers from england have explained that there would be a backlash in civilised countries and that this could and would affect any aid which they had been receiving. We sent was it £186,000,000.00 last year to the sudan ? Why ? They have plenty of oil, there government officials all seem to be well fed and clothed and the guy in london is so sharp you could cut yourself on his clothes. Is this what british taxpayers money is being wasted on ?

It prevailed in Egypt, recently. The problem is that whenever common sense prevails, there is always a bunch of nerds in coffee shops discussing up new ways to ruin everything. Most people don't realize that you think with your entire body, not just your brain. Without a strong, healthy body, your brain is helpless and founders in confusion. Some people suffer like that their entire lives. They're the ones who most often lack common sense.

Yes indeed and its time Sudan joined the 21st Century if they want to continue getting hand outs from the west . People can follow what religion they want but if a country wants support from Britain or America they should recognise basic human rights and recognise what is real blasphemy. And i do recognise the work of the two British Muslim Peers Open Your... but it would be nice to see more effort from moderates in dealing with the mindset of fanatics and they affront to civilised society.

Couldn't agree more. Everything you say is my opinion exactly, charity should begin at home and forget the rest until we are all sorted out. There is more need in this country than ever before. Years ago, we would have just sent in the sas to drag her out but alas, she is British and white to boot so she had little chance in the first place, all those baying for her blood are nothing more than inbred, brainwashed dumb blind fools.

We should cut the aid to Sudan and stop any more students entering this country for cheap education. We should cut all barbarous regimes off and have nothing to do with them. All Sudan nationals in the UK now should be watched for even the smallest breech of the law and then after a flogging they should be deported.

Thank goodness for someone with a brain. I hope that other people will take notice of this whole debacle and pick modern countries to travel to. Bet the Ladies Family is thrilled, do hope she is home in time to spend Christmas with them.

if there were any intelligent officials in the Sudan, this wouldn't have happened in the first place,I certainly wouldn't want to stay or or go back there.Any educated government officer would have realised this to be a simple mistake, and would have just pointed it out,and that would be the end of it.

It was political pressure on fanatical cowards that got her released. This entire situation shows again the cultural warfare that is being played by this new fascism.
