I know it's a silly question, but I have never fully understood the reasoning behind this war.

I have to say, that I'm not fully ignorant to the reasons. As far as I know, the reasons keep changing, and I don't even buy liberating the Iraq citizens for one second. I hate to say this, but I'm sure they would rather be alive under a dictatorship than dead under a democracy. This war is costing billions and China is getting the last laugh. I also don't understand the Bush supporters. He has done nothing right since he has been in office. I'm asking for your opinions because I have to go on a dinner date with my friend's family and they are huge advocates of the war and my friend forewarned me that this topic will be brought up to discussion. I don't want to sound like those people who are only as smart as the media will let them be, so I'm doing my own research and asking for everybody's opinions so I can come up with something fresh.

Do you remember the late 90's when Gas was so cheap, why was that? Because Saddam Hussein owed the US 30 Billion in loans that we gave him so he could start a war of aggression against his neighbors. Saddam was pumping Oil like crazy and creating a surplus that drove down the price. Saddam was a Thorn in the side of some very power friends of ours in Saudi Arabia. You see that's why they hate Iran also, because Iran has stoped trading Dollar's for Oil and now trades in Euro's. Iran is producing, China & Russian have growing needs, who is going to sell it to them. Iran, or The House of Saud?
The War is about Oil, but not about us taking it. It is about shutting the pumps off.
The Oil Industry is a monopoly and the owners, aim to keep it that way. If they can controll the supply they can controll the price. The Oil isn't running out either, they report no new oil field's because they aren't looking for them. Exxon Mobile has bought entire oil fields just to shut down production. They let the price fall during the 90's because that helped to put the small guy out of the business.

A full year before 9/11 Cheney and Bush planned the invasion of Iraq as a means of increasing U.S. military presence in the Middle East to insure our supply of oil was not interrupted.

Some good reasons:
1. 'Intelligence' is not an exact science. (ask the CIA).
2. Common Sense is not so common. (ask any good politician).
3. Because good politicians used deception to manipulate enough of the 'common sense' interpretation of the 'intelligence' gathered before the war.
4. Sufficient manipulation took place to make the war argument seem politically feasible and for the opponnents to be ignored in the name of 'democracy'.

It's actually quite simple, they attacked us and now we are just repaying the favor. Your left wing crazies will say it's because of oil or some off the wall idea. The truth is liberals are cowards and a stain on this country. Although I do not agree with President Bush on everything, he did the right thing attacking terrorism at the core. The problem is again liberals tie the hands of our troops when it comes to war and in my opinion they are responsible for the death of many of my fellow soldiers. I would love to see the liberals on the front lines, they would cut and run like the communists they are. So the simple answer to your question is we just don't want anymore innocent lives being killed. We are just doing what we have to.

George Bush had a personal vendetta against Saddam because of the attempt on his father's life. So when 9-11 happened he demanded his people to find a way to "justify" attacking Iraq. Hence the whole WMD story was invented.

i'm professional-conflict, this is what i imagine. undergo in concepts the deck of playing cards, fifty six i imagine? they are all lengthy gone. undergo in concepts Saddam's military? the 4th best in the international... lengthy gone. undergo in concepts how Al Qaeda change into attacking this united states of america each couple of years prime as a lot as Sept 11? no longer any better. undergo in concepts how just about 3400 civilians died in a unmarried day on Sept 11? the position's your outrage about probability free civilians being killed on your man or woman united states of america? Why are not you better in contact about Al Qaeda's blatant attempt to reveal Iraq into the recent Afghanistan? US Generals are continuously going to conceal their A$$ by ability of soliciting for better troops than we are able to probable deliver or help. That way they could clarify away their personal failure. Our president is conscious the mathematics all too nicely. What we want to be declaring is we are in till this is gained, if it takes ten years or 100. this is the in basic terms thanks to cajole Al Qaeda that they have got lost. yet scumbags like you're giving our enemy wish.

Well, it turns out that all the reasons they gave for going to war are not true (Iraq harboring terrorists, having nukes....), so the only other logical explanation is that we're there for the oil.

they have oil. this war is about money and profit. if it was really about safety issues we wouldn't have invaded Iraq. we would have gone after a country like N. Korea who we know has weapons of mass destruction.
