I was just reading a story on the Jena 6 case and after all of the media coverage it once again seems that the media jumped the gun reporting facts that were not true or incomplete at least about the case. Why do people trust the media when this seems to be the case in most instances.

Examples:

It was widely reported that Bell, now 17, was an honor student with no prior criminal record. Although he had a high grade-point average, he was, in fact, on probation for at least two counts of battery and a count of criminal damage to property. In any event, his conviction was overturned because an appeals court ruled he should not have been tried as an adult.)

The so-called "white tree" at Jena High, often reported to be the domain of only white students, was nothing of the sort, according to teachers and school administrators; students of all races, they say, congregated under it at one time or another.

Israel is a democratic country that can be changed through peacful coercisive means like Britain (even though they were not democratic in India) so why not stop using violence and try using passive resistance like Ghandi? Even Ghandi remained peaceful even when British soldiers were beating or killing his people, he just used all violent incedents performed by Britain to be used against them in the form of media to bring embarrasment to the countries government.

when he was proved soooooooo wrong about Saddam having any WMDs?

If the Weapons Inspectors checked and found that Iran is not making any Nuclear Bombs as Bush sez isn't it rather irresponsible for Bush to make the claims that he is making?

Or is this just proof that Bush is a couple cards short of a full deck?

I am finding all these sick postings about the Mcanns incredibly distressing. Much as yyou might try to niot get involved these postings are everywhere. Should Yahoo completely ban ALL postings refering to the Mcanns? Or should freedom of speech prevail even though these postings are designed to offend?

All I know is I feel sick everytime I read one and replying to them is obviously how these people get their kicks.

I'll rephrase it this time since it was removed by some of the kind folks who disagree with my opinion. What ever happened to free speech? Why should 6 kids, black, white, green, purple,... not be punished for beating another kid? Surely if it were a 6 green kids beating one blue kid, alot of you would think differently? Racism is alive but one particular group, with Al and Je$$e keep it alive. Let the school solve its own problems, I'm sick of hearing it. Why weren't Al and Je$$e at WVa when that black girl was found after being kept in a shed and abused in every way possible? No cameras, no $$$$$, that's why? Aren't her rights important too? Justice alright.

I know there will be silly, petty people who will focus on this being from the media, whose accuracy is in doubt, likewise the neglect thing will be repeated, yet again. However this is not about points, or bum licking any cyber buddies. Try and say something that hasn't been said by the couple of sad, lonely individuals who have a multitude of identities, kept to cause misery, offend, give thumbs down, but mainly attract attention.

I know that we have all recently heard the news about the 6 students in Jena, Lousiana that were put in jail after beating a white student. Though I do agree that they should have been charged; I do not believe that the charges should have been so excessive. This was a school yard fight and, I feel, that it should've been treated as such. Never the less, my question is: Why are so many people reluctant to say that this indeed is a race related issue.

It makes me afraid that in this day and age we do not recognize racism for what it is.
