I've just read the blog, I can see the principle but do you guys think this will curb the block reporting done by certain groups of individuals? Should Yahoo be tackling multi ID fraudsters?

Doc, I see your point, I'm not looking for restrictions, but the herd mentality of some is offensive.

Agree they should but will they? -no chance! As for the single cell life forms who continually report for no valid reason, that won't change either. It's a case of Yahoo being seen to be doing something, politicians would call it "spin."

Of course not. Then trolls would mount attacks, and the system wouldn't work at all. First, read the Guidelines, so you understand what does and doesn't count as abuse. If you've had material deleted that didn't violate the Guidelines, follow the link in the violation notice and appeal them. The answer isn't to find ways to keep violations from being reported, but to not post violations, and appeal wrongful deletions. When a removal is reversed, those who reported it lose trust status. If you don't want to post within the Guidelines, then find a site (the web is HUGE, this is NOT the only site) that allows what you want to do. One other factor: the "trust" ratings are dynamic. They're constantly re-evaluated, based on whether people made valid or invalid reports, or are themselves frequent violators.

No, I don't think Yahoo should be tackling multi ID fraudsters. What's the point ? This isn't real life, it's just a bit of fun - yes, some nasty stuff gets written here but users should refrain from allowing e-mails which would stop any bullying, not take things too personally and get a grip on human nature.

I haven't read the blog you refer to so can't comment on that for the moment. I still don't really know my way round this site - uh, what blog ?! lol

I feel we have enough restrictions in 'real' life and that this place is the one place people can really say what's on their mind (even if it's objectionable to some people) I don't want political correctness taking over here as well and I certainly don't want a 'Big Brother' mentality taking over.

But we can't let those with the herd mentality take over the asylum can we? There's always the few in every walk of life and they invariably mess it up for everyone - laws, restrictions etc put in place to police those few - it's not democratic for one thing.

Certain people will open up new accounts just to report others with.
All I can say is since the new rules came in I am only getting 1 or 2 violations a week instead of the usual 5 or 6 a day.

Yep that was as clear as mud. They managed to say nothing by saying alot.
I don't know if it will curb the nasty ones. They will always get their jollies from trying to pull down others.
We know who the nice people are so I guess we stick to them.

Violations are up since the new regime...Yahoo cronies are forming gangs to eliminate anyone with a sense of humour

I'm not afraid to report, I was positively encouraged to do it by Yahoo! when I spoke to them on the phone this week about harassment I was being subjected to.

If you know something violates the guidelines, don't be afraid to hit that button!
