this may be very disturbing to all i know i was when i heard this. a couple days ago i heard what some people in the gov. believe what could be the next terrorist attack on this country. i don't know if you remember the horrible hostige taking that happened in russia a couple years ago when a group took over a school of children and had done horrible things to the children before they murdered them. well that from what i heard was a training excercise which the terrorist are planning to do to us here in the US. NOW i know if this where to happen this would create a firestorm which i think their plan is to p*ss us off to the point of having our people rioting and or trying to destroy a muslim mosk which in return would have the whole muslim community and nations which out number us 3 to 1 on fire and angry at us and create a huge resistence. well heres the question if this was to happen would you think that people would riot and attack muslims in retailation and if so could we stop it

A last ditch bid to save an historic clipper from being broken up, will be made later.

The Carrick, which pre-dates the Cutty Sark, was built at Sunderland in 1864 and is now berthed at the Scottish Maritime Museum in Irvine, Ayrshire.

North Ayrshire Council granted provisional permission for the ship to be demolished in February as it would cost almost £20m to restore it.

About 100 campaigners from Sunderland will call for the ship to be returned.

Originally named The City of Adelaide, the ship was built to carry people emigrating to southern Australia. It has been rotting away on the quayside in Irvine since 1992 because of a lack of funding to restore it.

Ah! I see the south has suffered a modicum of flooding.

Comments posted on here last week, in the main, were very unsympathetic to the people of the north who got flooded.

I just wondered.

Now that the south has had a taste of the abundance of H2O, has the souths oppinions on flood victims changed?

I think it's a shame that now a days we have gone away from that. Now it's guilty until proven innocent. I had a brother who went through this and was accused of alleged rape. People in the community came to his house broke windows, sprayed painted his car,my parents recieved threatening phone calls it was a horrible time for all us but we stayed strong. Everyone presumed from the very beginning he was guilty even the police. Well 2 make a long story short the alleged victim ended up confesing the truth and dropping the charges. From then on I have always and i mean always presumed everyone innocent YES even Paris Hilton. Just wondering your thoughts about this topic or is it only me who thinks that way!

Imagine this world where kids DO NOT READ ... and when they actually DO READ they end up with a book called Harry Potter! Everybody suddenly starts cheering, " Good our kids have 'embraced' the reading habit!" If these imbeciles have never read a book in their lives ... how would they know if the book they are reading is any good? Obviously the grown ups are also trying to keep up with their GENIUS KIDS!
When there is enough hype in the Media about anything a majority of the people in this world are ready to accept it as Gospel truth, fashion statement, or INTELLECTUAL GREATNESS!
George Bush sold his WMD theory to the whole world using the Media and this media hype has contributed to big business in Literature, Art, Religion, Terrorism, World Cup Soccer, Beauty Pageants, Princess Diana's Concert, etc.
Our sponge like minds soak in all the trash dished out by a handful of people who run the Televisions and Tabloids. Let's now wear ing 'Harry Potter glasses' to look Intelligent!

The U.S. military is in place to specifically do jobs that are extreme and hazardous, and our soldiers are specialized to such an extent that average citizens and certainly politicians are not qualified to lead military personnel into combat situations and are certainly not able to dictate the outcome of a war to suit their own personal standards of Political Correctness just by their will to do so...our military leaders are there for a reason...to deal with instances of war, and to fight for the defense of this country....so why are those of you who claim to desire peace, not listening to those who would bring it about through victory?

By ROBERT BURNS and LOLITA C. BALDOR, Associated Press Writers Fri Jul 20, 6:50 PM ET

BAGHDAD - U.S. military commanders said Friday the troop buildup in Iraq must be maintained until at least next summer and they may need as long as two years to ensure parts of the country are stable.

At the high school I went to, the football, basketball and baseball players were treated with preferential treatment by school administrators.

As with most high schools, rules dictated that a student had to maintain a "C" average to participate in school sports.

In ninth grade, I was assigned to a history class which was taught by one of the football coaches. Oddly enough, the bulk of the football team was in the same class, where the "teacher" spent a disproportionate amount of time talking about sports rather than history. By all appearances, this class was specifically created to pass student athletes who couldn't be bothered to do the same work as other students.

As a result, many of these athletes ended up graduating without the educational standards demanded of other students.

Did the student athletes in YOUR high school get special treatment? If they broke the rules, did they get a pass?

And what, if anything, does this say about our society in general?

What do feel has contributed most to this sense of national shame, if any? Do you have a solution?

Does voting make a difference in your mind whether or not you are in the majority or minority? Last but not least, are you an active registered voter?

China has announced a huge crackdown on manufactures of bad exports. Jailing, shutting down, fines, whatever it takes to stop this.

It seems most of you think China is doing this as one grand conspiracy and its state sanctioned. No, my dim witted frat boys and girls, dishonest Chinese merchants are trying to make profit, just like in the USA.

Remember:
Eron (how can we forget)
Remember:
Purdue Pharma L.P., the maker of OxyContin, and three of its executives were ordered to pay a $634.5 million fine on Friday for misleading the public about the painkiller's risk of addiction. Resulting in shattered lives, even death.
Remember:
Haliburton and war profits
Remember:
Thousand of examples of human suffering vs profit in the USA.

What most people know of China would fit in a thimble, what most people THINK they know would fit in a barrel.

China is little of what you think it is, and most of what you want it it to be.

Peace

Even if you disagree with my view that Gerry McCann is the reincarnation of the Devil himself, you gotta admit, my posts liven up the place a bit.

I always like to post things that 'sail close to the wind', Ive often found you get better reactions that way. Sometimes I will push it too far, but thats the risk you take when you want to provoke reactions from people. Sticking to the middle ground is boring. Its about exploring different ideas, different thoughts, otherwise we might as well just give into the mainstream media and let their adoration of the McCanns just pour over us while our minds slowly get more and more empty ...............
