The U.S. military is in place to specifically do jobs that are extreme and hazardous, and our soldiers are specialized to such an extent that average citizens and certainly politicians are not qualified to lead military personnel into combat situations and are certainly not able to dictate the outcome of a war to suit their own personal standards of Political Correctness just by their will to do so...our military leaders are there for a reason...to deal with instances of war, and to fight for the defense of this country....so why are those of you who claim to desire peace, not listening to those who would bring it about through victory?

BAGHDAD - U.S. military commanders said Friday the troop buildup in Iraq must be maintained until at least next summer and they may need as long as two years to ensure parts of the country are stable.

Well it's not from any experience. Pulling it out of the bass seems a logical guess.

Those to the left don't read things like this:
Political Correctness is the Incubator of Islamism
by Amil Imani
14 Feb, 2007
Time and again we are told by the politically correct “experts” not to worry about Islam posing a threat to our way of life. We are repeatedly lectured that only a very small minority of Muslims are troublemakers who are giving the peaceful masses of Muslims a bad name. We are also informed that the terrorists, who happened to be Muslims, are the disaffected and the young. And not to worry, since as the fire of youth turns to ashes of old age the rebellious will mellow, as they always have.
With heavy assurances like this, coming from so many know-it-all authoritative figures, we can sleep soundly without the aid of sleeping pills. After all, people reason that these pundits are “experts” whose job is to know and tell it like it is. Those who voice contrary views must be a bunch of racist, alarmist hate mongers. Who is right?
Wouldn’t be more prudent to let the facts settle the matter, rather than blindly accepting either position? Of course it would, except for one huge problem. In the face of threats, people tend to go to the mind’s medicine cabinet and take a few denial and rationalization pills, in the same way that it is the aspirin bottle they turn to when a headache strikes. Why not? We are the Easy Species. We love effortless, quick and simple solutions. And that’s not invariably bad. It has given us all kinds of labor and time saving devices.
Yet, the Islam problem is very real and deadly. Neither the pronouncements of the experts, nor the tranquilizing pills of the mind can make it go away. It is here and it shows every sign of imposing itself on us.
Europe is already badly infected with Islamism. It is the coal-miners’ canary. It is telling us that the next stop is America. We must act and act now. We must not sacrifice our cherished way of life and the lives of our children at the altar of political correctness: the incubator of Islamofascism.

Generals say what the president wants them to say. They didn't get to be generals by expressing their own opinions. The troops who are actually being shot at are not free to express their opinions either.
I happen to know officers who have spent multiple tours in Iraq who privately disagree with the "official line" being repeated over and over by the president and his generals. The first-hand stories I have heard from these people (who I know to be trustworthy) certainly makes a thinking person wonder if the people in Washington and the guys behind the desks wearing all the stars are really concerned about 1) their troops, 2) the best interest of our nation or are just saying what they are supposed to say to promote their personal careers.
Soldiers have to obey orders. But citizens of a free country who oppose the war have just as much right to express their opinions as anyone else, even if that "anyone" is the president or a general. People you call "left of center" are just as entitled to their opinions as those who are off-balance on the right.

Hell, they saw it on CNN, it MUST be true. Yeah, right.
Hey liberals, we don't send General Petraeus down to the 7-11 to tell you how fast to spin the hot dogs, do we?!
Let the military handle the war, it's what they're trained to do! Untie their hands and let them TCB!

It is not the generals we disagree with, it is the politicians. Some generals disagree with the politicians as much as a citizen.
