China has announced a huge crackdown on manufactures of bad exports. Jailing, shutting down, fines, whatever it takes to stop this.

It seems most of you think China is doing this as one grand conspiracy and its state sanctioned. No, my dim witted frat boys and girls, dishonest Chinese merchants are trying to make profit, just like in the USA.

What most people know of China would fit in a thimble, what most people THINK they know would fit in a barrel.

China is little of what you think it is, and most of what you want it it to be.

Owen R,

Where did you get the idea that I hate? The fact of the matter, if this sounds offensive to you, it is meant to be exactly that, because I am sick and tired of the China haters all over the news, the internet, and America. Coming from people who should know better to those that don't.

I don't hate anyone (with the exception of Bush, I truly think that man is evil and has caused more harm to America, its interests while lining the pockets of his buddies and their interests.) What I do hate is ignorance.

I learned a lesson a long time ago, when it comes to big news, wait for the smoke to clear before condemning. Iraq and Afghanistan are prime examples.

I am condemning the China haters because, for the most part, they don't know what they are talking about --- at the very least, common sense should be enough for all of them. Sadly it is not and we treat our own people that way.

Peace

Jim

Nice to meet a patriot.

Good to know. Thanks for not specifying Americans or making silly claims about the U.S.

It is good also to remember that for ever criminal case involving a business, there are millions of products and services out there that are perfectly honest, in China and in the U.S. Our governments are doing the best they can.

China is fearful (just as the U.S. is to some in China) because it is unknown, their values different, harder to predict, much like we went through with the former U.S.S.R.

Wonderful to see someone who will help educate the Yahoo! Answers crowd so we can respond more intelligently.

It's one of the benefits of Free Speech here in the United States. We get the best knowledge and wisdom the world has to offer, no matter what it's source.

Keep speaking up, Jim.

I would not want to be a leader in China right now, that's got to be a tough job. They are walking a thin line between maintaining a system that has worked for them for several decades (even though most in the 'democratic' world consider it evil), and allowing their huge and very productive population to realistically participate in the world economy. I've done business with people in China, most very honorable, a few not -- just like people anywhere. But what always impresses me is how they work a hell of a lot harder than Americans do. They're becoming a force in the world because they're working they're butts off. And it's not because they're slaves or under the thumb of the government, it's because Chinese people like everyone else discovered that money and food and nice things and education at good schools for their kids are all desirable, and they figured out the easiest way to get them is to work for it. If Americans as a society would shut up and let go of their vain sense of entitlement and put their awesome potential to work, they would be able to compete. And the whole world would be a lot better off.

i admire cats. they're my widespread animals of all time and have been considering that i replace right into a sprint lady. i think of what that lady did is unquestionably noble. even although... distinctive cultures evaluate countless practices suitable, while we would evaluate an identical practices barbaric. we would not consume cats yet chinese language think of that's common. yet another occasion, in the previous nomadic tribes of Indians or Eskimos could prepare lady infanticide (killing or leaving to die to any extent further than the 1st lady offspring) using fact they have been considered a burden on the family contributors shape, not being waiting to accomplish heavy hard artwork to assist the family contributors, yet nevertheless taking in components including nutrition, water, look after, and so on. They considered this to be basically, the way issues had to be. yet we in the sought after, western international evaluate this to be not something wanting a detrimental, barbaric medieval prepare. besides, lower back to the priority to hand. I fairly could never consume cat (if I knew what it replace into previously) everywhere in the international (until eventually i replace into in some weird and wonderful survivalist circumstances the place that alter into the only nutrition accessible). yet i won't embargo against China for the cat difficulty on my own. Heck, presently I even have felt greater suitable approximately China often than I many times do.. using fact of that tale approximately how they completed the former head of a nutrition and drug watchdog employer, using fact he took bribes to approve particular drugs which made human beings ill and a few died. Heck, I choose this united states (u . s . a .) could improve some rocks and punish comparable offenses like that.

Dun juz put blame on china's goods. If America want to get the chinese good quality goods, why dun the american send some of their experts to guide and share their experiences with chinese manufacturers? As u know, not all the chinese manufacturers are rich like the US companies whom are rich enuff able to hire good chemist and scientists to do research on the food. Small industries will have to dig deep thru their pockets to hire good scientists. Even they have, these scientists sometimes lack of knowledge and experience to discover the spoilt goods. So, why America dont send teams to China to sort things out with the chinese scientists? This will benefits both. The Amercian can enjoy good quality goods with low cost and Chinese can create jobs for the needy. Think about it. China economy catch cold will affect America's economy to sneeze.

Dishonest Chinese merchants? I have no problem with the Chinese people getting rich. That would be great for the whole word. The problem is the PLA and the Communist Party make Dick Cheney look like a tree hugging radical. Too bad you can't breathe the air or drink the water in a major Chinese City. Or go online.

The people I know don't hate China, they just think they are industrially incompetent and they have disgrace themselves internationally. How do think people should feel about a country that murders somebody (a scapegoat) in their government when something goes wrong?

American-based corporations should pull out of China tomorrow. China needs our technology. The United States needs to find a way to disengage from China's industry. China is obviously a backward country even though it's a densely populated country. China isn't ready or competent enough to manufacture many things including food and export them.

"Earlier this month, China executed the former head of its food and drug safety watchdog for corruption, in what was widely seen as an attempt by the government to show it is serious about the problem."--Yahoo News

China is now waging a propaganda war to stop anyone from commenting about their industrial incompetency, especially anyone in the United States. The Chinese cannot dictate to American citizens what they can or cannot say.

Show them that your not interested in allowing them to control anything including what comes into your home that might be poisoned by corrupted and degraded industry in China.

Boycott anything Chinese, including their restaurants--they'll get the message and they won't have your money.

Don't allow China to push anyone around.

I agree with you Jim

China is very important to the US economy. They get a little bad press and people start being ignorant.

I've been to China and Taiwan. For the most part they do an awsome job manufacturing things we buy every day.

You're right. Most people know little or nothing about China and how things work.

Gee...go figure...Once upon a time, poor Chinese worked the fields for pennies a month. They get offered a few pennies more to come to the big city and work in the factories. And we naively think that they will exercise the kind of quality control that people in Western society demand of their workers. So, of course, the Chinese bureaucracy comes down hard on the managers in order to divert the outrage to someone other than themselves. But it does NOT fix the basic problem which is lack of quality control AND incentive to do the best they can do. That is the basic problem with communistic societies.
