give them an inch and they will take a mile. I live in an area that was demolished by Hurricane Katrina ,all of our historic homes are gone. People keep coming in from all over the country and buying up the land, where beautiful Southern Mansions which were and putting gaudy condos and casino's on them. The City Council keeps approving "variances" for them. If they do it for one, they must do it for all
I am concerned whenever the government has too much power and no longer listens to the people or....they think the people are too ignorant to make intelligent decisions, so they make them for them. I think it is an excellent question.

Here's a thought - do you know how to use apostrophes?

I live in Ireland, the first European country to instigate a smoking ban, and it has worked out very well. Even diehard smokers seem to think so.

I think that in most countries, the authorities would like to reduce alcohol abuse, which would most likely reduce alcohol intake also. This would mean less binge drinking, fewer alcohol-fuelled incidents, fewer drink drivers - which would be no bad thing, in my book.

I think that people who take alcohol responsibly will hardly notice any change. The rest of the boozers will find it tough to go cold turkey, though ...

Why don't they just ban drinking, oh yeah, i forgot politicians like a tipple now and again, and again, and again.
I love the irony that the government has banned smoking, yet there are politicians who want to legalise cannabis, have we to become a nation of bakers, just to add to the obesity problem.
I love politicians, they make me smile.

PS, how about taxing tax?

it's rubbish isn't it? I believe some wheelie bins have a weighing device on them and that the government is researching how much rubbish the average household throws away and considering charging for excess. James Whale had a bee in his bonnet about it not so long ago and then people rang in to say they had looked at their bins and some had found the device he was talking about.

a thumbs down for reporting a fact? get over yourselves
