China has not fought a war outside its own borders since the late 70's when they invaded Vietnam because of a variety of problems, one of which was Vietnam was causing them a lot of trouble on their southern border. That war lasted only one month and when China left, they told Vietnam, "mess with us again and we'll come back and make it worse." Seems to have worked.

China does not have a history of imperialism. They have little experience in modern warfare. They also know that military incursions are uncontrollable and rarely turn out the way its envisioned. (Look at Iraq, remember the claims of liberation, now they are in a civil war). China knows that the biggest weapon they have is economic. That is how they will eventually win, in the market place, where it can be controlled and is not dependent on chaos.

As far as Japan. The only things that China is asking Japan to do is apologies for what it did and stop re-writing history books in Japan and teach their children the truth.

Other then that, Japan and China are huge trading partners. With normal relations.

Peace

Jim

"Ever" is a rather long time in the future. Anything can happen and yes, I can imagine circumstances that could arise in which Japan were invaded. None of these are likely. The cause of the imagined war would not be revenge, but other circumstances that arose. Bringing up memories of the Rape of Nanking or the occupation would probably be used as propaganda to drum up patriotic ferver and support for the war at home, but revenge would not be the immediate cause.

Let's think rational
I can't think of any war nowadays which doesn't cover somebody's financial interests on first place. Eliminating Japan from the world market won't be wise from economical point of view.
And when money is talking everything else listens
