We bought our home last November. This spring our set of neighbors to the south are about to drive us crazy! We have a screened porch (floor to ceiling) out back, and we love it. The problem is the end of the porch coinsides directly with the neighbors kitchen window and side door. Our business is their business.
We would like to stop this by blocking off that end of the porch. We have considered lattice, but that won't stop them. We do have a 6' fence, but they hang on it . We've tried roll down shades, and they look around them.
Does anyone have some serious ideas for how we can get our privacy? This porch was one of the big selling points for this house! We are completely open to serious ideas!!!! PS- Talking to them is like talking to the wall.....

After purchasing a condo we have a pervasive animal urine tye odor that drifts throughout our house. We have had multiple inspectors in to no avail. No Urine traces anywhere, we've used blacklight, infared, moisture readers, cut into our floor to look around and a number of other things. We're at a loss as to what it is.

I'm am now doubtful that it is in fact urine but an odor very similar.

-Our condo is from 1912, subfloor is the flooring & we have plaster walls.
-The odor builds during the course of the day, fading down in the mouring hours.
-There is no smell outside, above us, below us or even next door... we've checked!
-We don't have any crawlspaces, nor attics.
-We've brought in gas, animal control, mold and air quality people. No one has a clue but say it is a Urine type smell.
-Previous owner did electrical & plaster work

I'm looking to find the odor to solve it, not just cover it up.

Suggestion are welcome. Thanks

I know this might seem an odd question BUT when a body is sent for cremation, is there a little man behind the scenes frantically unscrewing the lovely brass handles to sell them on or whatever?
This is something that has baffled me for years as people ONLY collect the ashes and even though the furnace temperature is mega hot and could possibly melt the handles, surely there would be a clod of molten metal building up if the handles were left on each time.
Maybe the handles are recycled (taken off and resold to the next person)

With the warm weather finally here, there are small red ants coming in through my kitchen windows (I have yetto check the other windows)..without using a poison (I have kids and pets) how do I get rid of them ? We been here a few years now and this is the first time this has happened. The only change is I now have Aloe plants on the window sill, is that what is attracting them ?

What are some opinions of the best way to insulate around the replacement windows when you install them. I am currently using batt insulations and pushing it in all around the window with a putty knife, since I have tons of extra batts to use. What has anyone else had success with? Is that non-expanding foam any good? At $5 a can its quite pricey. Just curious of different or most successfull options out there.

There are so many gnats in my room!! It's like I kill one, and another one appears the next five minutes after! Is there someway to attract them to one spot and then DESTROY them at the same time so they can't escape? Like sweet smelly sticky paper...something that I could make at home that would be easy. Please and thank you :)

I live in Northern Utah. It's getting very hot now this summer. I seem to attract Wasp . Wondering if the Humming Bird feeder attracts them. They are coming and trying to feed on it. How can I determine where there nest is? I have wasp tracks two of them on the patio on different places. But they do not seem to get into them. What else can I do.? I am allergic to their bites.

I've had Spike for about 10 years now. He's only about 2 inches high, with nice pink flowers on. He's in a little pot about 2 inches high and 1.5 inches in diameter. He's got little spines that stick into you like a hook.
Should I repot him or will he be OK in the same pot?
If I have to repot him how do I do it without getting spiked and killing Spike? Is there a knack?

This summer, I am having problems with one birdhouse location. The young have been on the ground dead/bloodied on the head. I just removed a headless adult body from the nestbox. There were no innards so I don't know if the maggots got it or it was eaten. There are large maggots underneath where the nest was. It was an English Sparrow nest in an Eastern Bluebird house. It has a latch door that I can open. We have had the nestbox in the same area for years and no problems until this year. There are other active nestboxes nearby, the same as in the past. Please offer some useful advice. We do not let our pets roam. They are indoor animals.

No joking answers please.
Would wire screen over the front of the nestbox help any?
