What kind of fruit(s) can be placed near/with hummingbird feeders to attract insects for extra nutrition?

Someone suggested to put banana peels atop the feeders, as they attract vinegar flies. Any suggestions please. Thanks

any fruit you put there is going to attract wasps and hornets.just put bright colored flowers around the feeder and keep the feeder full,and that is all that's necessary.

Orange trees would attract hummingbirds in my yard.
